My Writing Skills in English - Essay Example

My passion, rather obsession is football, whereas my goal is to improve my writing skill in English. It happened recently that my warned me that I am not up to mark in my writing in English and unless if I really work hard it will be difficult to get high grades. I was worried, and thinking deeply about what prevents me to improve writing skills in English. I realized that it is my passion and compulsive preoccupation with football. I came to a decision that I should put my passion in the back burner and set my goal to improve my writing skills.

Goals are important milestone in everybody’s life and without goals we are directionless to reach our destination in life. My goal is very significant in the aspect that it will enhance the opportunities in my future career and better prospects in my life. However, my passion for football poses a greater threat to achieve my goal and distracts my attention to reach the goal. Each person is passionate about something or other in life. Their passion for these things are taken as indulgences which are necessary in life, otherwise the life will become boredom.

However, these petty indulgences are harmless as long as they are not coming in the way of achieving the goals in one’s life. One of my friends was obsessive with baseball. He was almost a compulsive neurotic; he gave top most priority for baseball than any other things in his life. Result- he was careless in his studies and was thrown out of the school. His future is bleak at present with nowhere to go. Being a witness to this happening I realize that my goals in life are more important than the passion for some other interests.

There is ongoing war in my mind to choose either football, which is my passion and my goal, which is to improve my writing in English. I weighed pros and cons of both. The positive side of pursuing my goal in academic is replete with better career, opening up new avenues in job market and assured economic status. On the other side pursuing my passion offers only uncertain future. My preferred choice to achieve my goal is improving my writing skills. Our choices we make at certain crossroad in life are the guide posts which give us clear direction to reach the desired destination in life.

The choices we make are deciding factors to put our priorities straight to achieve the goal. In nutshell, goals are important in life rather than our passion. We have to make rational choice and set our goals accordingly. We must steer clear of distractions we encounter in the way to achieve goals. After weighing pros and cons of each choice, I preferred fulfilling my goal in improving my writing in English. I am assured of bright and secured future.
