The development of ideas and presentation of arguments is important in the development of a perfect essay. The elaboration of ideas can be improved by effective structuring of the essay to accommodate the various issues to be highlighted. Success in writing depends on the ability to explain ideas and arguments in a sequential and Elaborative way making the whole essay interesting and easy to understand. Writing is a complex process that requires the writer to prepare and articulately develop a comprehensive document. Writing skills can be improved by the use of diverse approaches including content evaluation and strategic development of ideas and concepts. The writing of essays depends on the topic of choice and the level of interest. The general writing principles of essay and academic documentation is vital because it is the basis effective writing. During the introduction to academic writing several issues were highlighted that were vital in the development of good essays. My personal writing skills development is integral for both academic pursuit and improvement of essay writing capability. Since joining the university, I have been able to develop my language and writing skills. Initially, the understanding of the various issues of writing was a challenge, but due to openness, I have been able to achieve success in improving my writing skills. During the course I learnt several issues that are integral to the writing process. Among the issues highlighted in the course are the different types of essays that exist in the writing process. There are four main types of essays that could be written namely; expository essay, Narrative essay, argumentative essay and persuasive essay. The four categories of essay offer a diverse approach in writing which includes the presentation of ideas using different fonts. Expository essay is an essay written to explain or describe the topic. These essays include the presentation of methodologies such as how to replace bulb or how to do something. Expository essay is common when dealing with explanation of a process. For instance, when an author writes about an invention and the process that innovation employs, he writes an expository essay. Expository essay includes the analyzing a topic and developing a conclusive analysis of the topic. It relates to the narrative essay, but the difference is on the analysis part. Narrative essays employ the use of storytelling techniques. Narrative essay does not try to explain the reason for the occurrence but records the occurrence. The purpose of narrative essays is to create a picture of the occurrence or events rather than analyze it. For example, when writing about the events during the First World War, the essay may be narrative if it does not analyze the reasons why but address the events, or situation that occurs. Through the narration of the story, the author can be able to develop an image through which the readers can come up with a conclusion about the events. Narration essay do not the author a chance to analyze the situation, but a chance to explain to the readers an event and letting them draw conclusions on the event. Expository essay analyzes the situation and gives the author's view of the whole situation or even making the more detailed with a personal touch. Argumentative essays involve taking of positions on issues and offering explanation for the position taken. They are commonly used when addressing social issues that do not have a fixed resolution such as the case of same sex marriages, gun legalization and legalizing immigrants. Issues covered by argumentative essays offer diverse conclusions and may not have a fixed outcome. Argumentative essays are common in social science because of the social issues affecting the society. It may be hard to come to a definite conclusion but the role of the author in such instance is to explain his stance on the issue. The author of argumentative essay may crisscross the different views in order to strengthen his argument. Persuasive essay involves the presentation of ideas or views with the sole purpose to impress or persuade the reader to accept a stance or argument. The success of the essay will depend on convincing the reader. Therefore, in developing writing skills, the understanding of the different types of essay will encourage success. Difference in essays must be understood clearly otherwise the writing may not be perfect. Essay writing is the first concept in presentation of ideas that is diverse and very important because it is widely used in academic fields. The study of writing will increase knowledge of the methods and presentation of ideas. Essay writing is effective when an author understands the reason for writing and the focus audience. During the course of study, I was able to write several essays, which fall in the four categories of essay and experienced massive success with the process. I was able to achieve my goals as well as develop my writing skills. The skills are important in achieve the optimal writing skills that will lead to success in academics. In line with the studies undertaken, I have been able to study further and improve my language skills and communication skills. Essay writing has encouraged the development of positivity towards the learning process and improves my grades. However, the road to understanding essay writing has not been easy based on my personal experience in class and during the implementation of the learned knowledge.The development of language proficiency is vital developing a master in writing. Writing is a complex process that requires the support of other skills in order to be successful. Success in skill development depends on the acceptance of knowledge and learning process. Grammar and creativity are vital aspects of writing that could be achieved through communication and interaction with the people. Consequently, I have developed my leadership skills through undertaking complex and diverse range of writing opportunity. These writing opportunities have helped shape my leadership skills and improve my potential. The experience and potential obtained in the learning process has propelled my writing skill by allowing for the development of creativity and innovation. Creativity is an attribute that makes writing and presentation of ideas interesting. However, creativity cannot be achieved through learning but a combination of personal experience and skill improvement. The success in writing is therefore a complex process entails different aspects and skills in order to produce academically accepted document.
