Personal ment Twenty-two years ago, I was born in Hong Kong. While at this time Hong Kong had been a United Kingdom territory for nearly 100 years, the country also had an important harbor that gave the region a mixed cultural background. Hong Kong had been developing robustly, but in 1998 there was a financial storm that ran over most parts of Asia, including Hong Kong. The whole economy of Hong Kong was stressed, everything was devalued, and thousands people lost everything in a single night.

I was shocked. I never thought the economy had such great power; it not only made Hong Kong one of the richest cities, but also was capable of destroying the city. Since then, I have been intrigued by finance and have devoted myself to understanding the oftentimes intricate and complicated ways it functions. After recognizing my interest in finance at this early age I have been a devoted student. In 2009, I took a gap year. During this time I considered the potential next step in my career. I traveled to a number of places, becoming more mature, self-motivated, and self-aware along the journey.

I soon came to discover a renewed confidence to face any challenges or difficulties that may occur in the future. Since this time I have approached life with a new sense of courage and motivation. I have had a number of professional development opportunities. In 2011, I took an internship in CITIC Securities (ZheJiang) Co., Ltd. Moreover, this summer I had an incredible opportunity to work in PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the "big four" accounting firms in the world. The experience I received from the internship, in addition to providing me significant work-related experience, enables me to direct my academic studies in more effective and efficient ways.

Ultimately, it was a wonderful chance to widen my horizons and develop my teamwork abilities. I have developed a plan for my life and future career. As my parents company is preparing for an IPO, my current plans are to assume the role of CFO at this organization. I have read the course structure on the website and it is absolutely appropriate for my future career. I believe I can achieve outstanding success after finishing this MSc programme. Moreover, I am determined to obtain ACCA certificates after my graduation in order to be qualified in these areas.

As I will complete my BA in Accounting & Finance at the University of Exeter, it will be credited toward the fundamentals level paper of ACCA. Furthermore, if I have a chance to study for my MSc Accounting and Finance in LSE, it will lay an even more solid foundation for me to pass these certificates. I believe knowledge has the power to change things. Although I have limited economic resources and lack significant social status, I have faith in myself and believe though efforts and perseverance I can achieve great things in life.

I take this attitude throughout my experiences each day to ensure I paint life with the strongest and most vibrant colors possible. Please do give me an opportunity, since I already have my painting in my mind.
