Global Warming by Human Caused Introduction Global warming is one of the most popular debatable topics in the environmental studies. The constant rise in the average temperature of the earth surface and oceans is termed as global warming. Rapid global climate change is the major consequence of this global warming. Increasing concentration of several greenhouse gases due to several unethical human activities, such as high consumption of fossil fuel and deforestation is causing unequivocal warming of global climate system. In addition to this, several non-human activities, such as variation in the orbit of earth around the sun, rapid changes in atmospheric composition, volcanic eruptions and solar luminosity are also responsible for the global climate change. Global climate change has become one of the most challenging and critical issue that is affecting ecological and environmental balance of the globe. It is difficult to justify the major responsible reasons behind this global warming. Several scientists have argued that human beings’ unethical activities are responsible for this issue. On the other hand, some of the scientists around the globe are trying to illustrate that volatile change in natural and environmental structure is causing rapid global climate change. The essay will provide an argument on the topic i.e. “Can the humans be held responsible for global warming?” Major Reasons behind Global Warming There are several reasons behind the climate and temperature change in the earth’s surface. The part of the essay will provide an argument about the real causes behind the global warming and rapid global; climate change. Non-Human Reasons The temperature of the earth depends upon the balance between the planet’s system and energy entering. When the energy from sun is absorbed, earth warms. On the other hand, when the energy of the sun is reflected back then the earth generally avoids warming. There are several non-human reasons that are affecting the global temperature. Green house effects, variation in the energy of sun and change in earth’s surface as well as atmospheric reflectivity are the factors responsible for global warming. Several scientists pieced a picture of the climate, dating back thousands of years through the analysis of various indirect measures like tree rings, glacier lengths, ice cores, and ocean sediments, changes in the orbit of earth and pollen remains. The valuable historical record shows that the global climate system varies naturally (Lawson 22). The output of the sun shows narrow variations over the course of a particular 11 year time cycle. These cyclic changes effectively correlate with the frequency and number of sun spot. It is known as solar cycle. This solar spot is growing slowly and gradually. However, the rapid increase of solar spot is affecting global climate. The climate is getting hotter and hotter due to this reason. On the other hand, position of the earth with respect to the sun slightly varied over a longer period of time due to the change in orbit of earth. However, this frequent change is termed as Milankovitch cycle (Shrivastava 109). According to the view of several scientists, these changes are major culprits for the global climate change since the Ice Age of earth. These changes have limited impact on the global temperature and climate change for a shorter time cycle. These changes have occurred slowly and gradually. This Milankovitch change has impacted the global climate and earth surface’s temperature. It has resulted in long-term climate and temperature fluctuations. Water vapor is considered as the most abundant green house gas in the atmosphere of earth although the changes in the water vapor’s concentration are generally the result of temperature changes. Consequently, this water vapor can significantly act as the part of feedback loop (Arnold 272). In the feedback loop, the increase in temperature typically triggers an effective increase in the evaporation of the water. The water vapor condenses into clouds due to the increase of water vapor concentration that always has an opposite effect on the climate as it helps to reflect solar radiation. However, the importance of feedback loops and their roles are still not effectively understood. Last but not the least; volcanic eruptions also have a strong impact on the global climate change. The large quantity of ash and dust scattered by the huge volcanic eruption can circulate for a specific time period. This eruption causes reflection of solar radiation. It is evident from several historical records that eruption of several volcanoes constantly and frequently increased the temperature of the earth’s surface. According to the research of several modern scientists, the stratosphere of the earth is now free from any kind of volcanic aerosol. Looking into these above facts and figures, it can be stated that global warming is a natural result. Human Activities It is true that several natural reasons and calamities are responsible for frequent global climate change. But several unethical and unkind activities of human being towards the environment and nature increased the impact of global warming. Generally, climate changes prior to the industrial revolution can be explained by several natural causes, such as volcanic eruptions, natural changes in greenhouse gas concentration and changes in solar energy. Recent global climate changes cannot be entirely explained by the natural causes alone. Research from several scientists indicates that warming since mid- 20th century cannot be explained by the natural causes. Human activities are highly responsible behind this increase in global climate change. Huge deforestation and consumption of fossil fuel has great impact on the global warming. Deforestation Several industrialists during the era of industry revolution thought that the deforestation activities can help them to establish factories and production houses. It has both positive and negative consequences. Rapid industrialization can effectively contribute towards the country’s economic growth. On the other hand, the negative aspect of deforestation includes loss of rain fall, climate change in that specific area and increase in pollution due to limited oxygen supply. Trees usually take carbon dioxide and extracts oxygen to the environment during photosynthesis (Shipley 42). This photosynthesis process helps all the human beings and non-human animals to avail sufficient oxygen. It is a natural and important environmental system. Lack of sufficient number of trees and frequent deforestation can increase the temperature of the surface of the earth. On the other hand, it can reduce the percentage of rain fall in that particular area. Water is considered as the source of life. Loss of rain fall can reduce the sufficient amount of water that is required for survival in a community. Day-by-day, the amount of reserved natural water is getting reduced due to low rain fall and high deforestation activities. These human activities are creating several consequences that are affecting the global climate. First of all, it is helping to create Methane which is a potent green house gas that can be developed by several bacteria in oxygen poor areas. It is important for human beings to understand the significance of green forest. They can use waste lands for industrialization which cannot harm the climate and environment of that specific area. On the other hand, it is important for government to develop several policies in order to store or reserve sufficient amount of rain water. In addition to this, government or policy makers or the environment ministry of a country should motivate or force the industrialists to not use the agricultural lands or forests to put up their factories or industries. Consumption and Burning of Fossil Fuel Burning of fossil fuel causes green house gas emission. It is true that consumption of fossil fuel and petroleum increased significantly since last four and five decades. The global manufacturing and distribution organizations generally use long-headed trucks in their logistics and supply chain in order to deliver the goods and services (Fone 71). These activities generally increase the level of carbon and green house gas emission. In addition to this, consumption level of fossil fuel running vehicles is increasing rapidly. Burning of these fossil fuels releases huge amount of carbon dioxide and deadly carbon monoxide. High emission level of carbon can result in several deadly diseases for human beings, such as cancer, respiratory problem, heart problem, nervous disorder and brain tumor. People understand the negative impact of the high consumption of fossil fuel but they are trying to avoid these issues due to strong market and social trend. On the other hand, several industries are not following sustainable business strategies. Limited effort towards recycling of wastes and water, and high carbon foot print by several organizations is significantly increasing the emission level of carbon. Several household activities, such as consumption of refrigerators and washing machines cause CFC emission. High emission of CMC affects the ozone layer that causes increase of temperature. There are several birds and animals that cannot survive due to slight change in climate (Swick 57). It is true that each and every animal have significant contribution to the ecology. Rapid climate change and increase in pollution level is affecting the ecological balance of globe. Ultimately, it can affect the future generation who cannot get healthy environment due to constantly growing pollution and temperature of earth’s surface. High emission of CFC and several deadly green house gases are the major reasons behind the global warming. Summary of the essay Looking into above discussions and reasons, it can be stated that several natural reasons and human activities are highly responsible for rapid global climate change which is the major consequence of global warming. Several natural reasons such as variation in solar output, water vapor, Milankovitch cycles, solar spots and volcanic eruptions are responsible for global warming. But it is the emission of several green house gases, such as CFC, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide which is increasing the effect of global warming. People generally consume and burn fossil fuel for several purposes, such as household needs, transpiration needs and commercial needs. In addition to this, the consumption of these fossil fuels is increasing significantly. This high consumption level is increasing the emission level of several green house gases that is causing climate change and increase in temperature of earth’s surface. On the other hand, several industrialists after the industrial revolution era tried to increase their number of factories, manufacturing houses, distribution centers and warehouses. They took the option of deforestation in order to maximize business profits. This activity of human beings has several negative consequences that can harm the environmental and ecological balance. Low rain fall, lack of sufficient fresh oxygen and high pollution are the major results of deforestation. Global warming is man-made. It is the efforts and activities of human beings that are ensuring change in climate and temperature. It is true that several natural reasons are also responsible for global warming. But unkind activities of human beings are constantly increasing the effect of this deadly global warming. It is important for the human beings to understand the significance of green environment to reduce the impact of global warming in order to save future generation of human beings. Conclusion Global warming is one of the most popular debatable topics. Several scientists have argued among themselves in order to illustrate major reasons behind this global warming. Global warming is affecting the global climate and temperature of several places around the globe. It is clear from above discussion that changes in the orbit of earth and reflection of the radiation of sun is increasing the temperature of the surface of earth. These changes are taking place at slow pace for last thousands of years. However, majority of the global environment scientists have indicated that emission of green house gases are the major reasons behind this global climate change. The whole world experienced rapid climate change due to several unkind and unethical human activities. Deforestation for the purpose of industrialization and high consumption of fossil fuel for transportation, household and commercial purposes is increasing the pollution level of environment. In addition to this, consumption and burning of fossil fuel is increasing the emission level of several green house gases. Global warming and rapid climate change have several negative impacts. It causes several critical life taking diseases, such as cancer, respiratory problems and nervous disorder. People around the globe should try to find out several effective ways to reduce the deadly effect of global warming. Works cited Arnold, Denis. The Ethics of Global warming.
