However, teaching jobs earn a mere fraction of that amount and yet they are the main contributors to high-quality education. Teachers are the key pillars of a sound and progressive society because they are the main source of knowledge and values to everyone pursuing a different career; hence, they should get higher payment. Job Description, Its Value and Its Significance Teachers perform varied roles in their professional duties, thus teaching is one of the significant roles of a teacher in the learning environment. It includes planning, preparing lessons or courses, assessing students, recording, and reporting on the progression of students. A teacher is required to teach according to the education needs of their students including setting examinations and marking the work of students. Other activities include promoting the general well-being and progress of students in class, offering guidance and counseling to students on education or social matters, managing or coordinating, as well as, communicating effectively with the school authorities. Moreover, the value of teachers is based on the contributions that they make to learning or studies of their students. The teacher is a source of information, motivator, character builder and mentor; thus, he or she should act as a role model to the students. This is imperative because teaching is a profession that always demands additional value in order to meet the future demands of learners. Therefore, the value of teaching is that it molds the moral and ethical behaviors of students by preparing them towards a successful life in the future. Reasons for Paying Teachers More Salary Teachers play varied roles in the society and the future employee including nurses, drivers, athletes, engineers among others pass through the hands of teachers. Therefore, without teachers, students could not achieve better knowledge and skills for varied activities. Moreover, teachers play significant roles in the society and one of the major aspect is training students to enabled them achieve their career objectives successfully. Training or teaching is crucial because it prepares students to a brighter future or successful citizens in the society. Another vital aspect is that teachers enhance quality and value education; thus, they should be paid well. Values are the guiding principles that contribute to individual development and they reflect on the attitudes or behaviors of an individual. Therefore, without quality and value education, the society could not achieve development; hence, teachers should get higher payment. Lastly, they add value to scholars through training course; thus contributing to the success of students. For instance, adding value to character demands instilling discipline to students and training them about good moral or effective ethical behaviors to prepare them to be better citizens in the future. Teachers have always been interested in the major aspects including character molding, knowledge and skills by adding value to students in order to achieve these aspects successfully.
