Communicative Language Teaching Communicative Language Teaching Communicative Language Teaching consists of a new method of teaching a language. It consists of a theory that believes that the main aim of the language of instruction is to form a basis for communication. The aim of using this method of teaching is to ensure that the student has competence in language use and can effectively express him or herself by use of language. It is very practical as it uses real life situations to ensure effective learning. The main function of this mode of teaching is to make sure that one can properly interpret social behaviors and requires the adequate involvement of the learner in producing target language. The use of language, therefore, brings about a need for certain capabilities including the knowledge of how to apply grammar and vocabulary in a language. The use of Communicative Language Teaching is not exactly a method of teaching; it is more of a syllabus and a teaching routine that is easy to identify. It, therefore, has the ability to help the learner find new methods of understanding the use and application of language in various perspectives (Light&Littlewood, 2014).Therefore, it uses methods and techniques that are applicable in learning, to help the learner to apply confidently the principles that he learns in real life. The use of Communicative Language Teaching has initiated various movements that are both based on the use of proficiency and language to help the student improve their learning capability. Communicative Language Teaching is effective since it focusing on determining what the student can do in functional terms and practically. It involves the use of thorough evaluations and helps students to identify things that are useful to them in a practical sense. It enables the students to complete the required grade or level of the curriculum successfully to meet the required national standards when it comes to education, and especially foreign education. It is a practical approach to foreign language students and applies to them all the way from kindergarten up to university. Communicative Language Teaching is important for students because it helps to make students understand what they can do after completing a certain level of education. The use of this teaching method enables a learner to use and apply certain strategies that may apply to the particular student. Since Communicative Learning Technology does not support one particular theory or working method, it can draw ideas from many practical methods such as sciences, psychology and the use of second languages. By doing this, it embraces the different approaches that apply to helping the learner to meet their learning goals(Sung,2015).Moreover, using this learning model has effectively enabled accommodation of different students who have different personalities and needs for learning. The practicality of this teaching brand appears in the way that it requires the frequent interaction between the learners to create a suitable atmosphere for the students to perfect their language skills. The application of Communicative Language Teaching involves the use of authentic communication activities that link to the real world, and they help the learner to sharpen their communication by effectively using different channels to communicate. In order to do this, it takes into account the user’s personal history, their background, their language efficiency, needs, and their specific goals in order to adapt creativity in order to deal with each student personally and on a one on one level. It effectively does this by employing different methods of teaching the pupils how to communicate properly. A way in which it does this is by employing tasks as a means of improving the pupils communication skills. The Communicative Language Teaching methodology includes the emphasis on developing communicative skills. Additionally, it places emphasis on grammar as the supportive pillar for the development of communication skills for the learner. Equally important, it also places emphasis on social interaction as a vital part of student development. It believes that through social interaction, a student can internalize the meaning and application of certain words and phrases, share opinions and information concerning these words and help the student to understand the application of these words fully. One effective method of ensuring that the learner can properly internalize this is by ensuring that the learning experience of the student focuses on meaning. An effective way of ensuring that the student easily understands the application of language is by ensuring that they can comfortably use real life scenarios to polish their language and communication skills. Another method of enabling a student to learn with Communicative Language Teaching is by teaching the students using a real-time action that allows them to do things (Brumfit&Johnson, 2013). By using this method, anything that the student learns is easily integrated into their long-term memory. The teacher can apply this method by encouraging the students to use actively language from the start, even though it may not appear refined. Through doing this, the learner will slowly perfect their language skills and be able to build upon their linguistic knowledge naturally as they learn. For the learning of language to be effective, there has to be abundant input in the learning process. To effectively ensure that the student has abundant input, there have to be many resources that the student can tap as they learn the language. Media resources such as videos, DVDS, websites, books and others will be of much benefit to the student, as they will ensure that they are constantly learning. Furthermore, there has to be frequent use of the language both in and out of the classroom so that the student may easily adapt to using the language in various situations. Therefore, the application of Communicative Language Teaching is a wholesome process that needs the maximum output to succeeding. References Brumfit, C. & Johnson, K. (2013).
