Parking Problem At Florida State UniversityFlorida state university is one of the prestigious institutes in USA. It is well known for its academic excellence. Due to its excellent educational and extra-curricular facilities, the institute has been considered as a role model for academic institutes in USA. However, there are some internal administrative problems within the school which does raise some doubt over the competency of the school administration. One of the biggest administrative problems in this regard is “parking problem”.

The university has very limited space for parking of cars and due to this reason students, teachers and other support staff have to constantly suffer as a result. The academic building is far away from the parking space and it results in a waste of precious time. Due to limited parking space, students have to park their cars in the streets or some other convenient locations. This creates a massive problem for them. To combat such problems, some effective and highly efficient strategies can be made which would be beneficial in the long and the short run.

One of the easiest and most effective methods in this regard would be having a parking and transportation plan which will have implicit with it several core components of effectiveness. One of them would be how effectively and efficiently parking facilities are being linked up with parking pathways (Box, 2004). It has to be noted that the parking space which has been provided near the university buildings is very limited in size due to the size of the other adjacent buildings and there is a need for extra space.

It does mean that adequate space for pedestrian movers that is for students, faculty and other support staff must be provided in parking areas so that they are able to reach their campus destinations. By Improving the potential circulation and movement of these pathways and also eliminating various pathways which make the procedure cumbersome for pedestrians, will certainly improve the overall process. It is also evident that landscaping, protected walkways and pathways and also adequate lighting facilities will help in enhancing the overall pedestrian experience and will improve the parking facilities.

Students having bicycles or motorbikes will also be facilitated if the bicycle paths are made. An important thing to note, however, is that a bike path may not be highly convenient or effective if it is inconsistent with its procedures. According to Lyons (2001), a bike pathway which can only create lanes of roadways which can merely switch to a sidewalk will merely create problems for potential riders and will also create conflicts and other problems for the pedestrians.By evaluating and analyzing these highly important procedures, Florida University would certainly have a concrete view of where we can focus upon our efforts as well as all our technical resources.

But, the higher authorities of this institute could be blamed for the occurrence or potential occurrence of such administrative shortages. The core requirement in this regard is creation of a mutual alliance between teachers, students, school administrative authorities and all other stakeholders involved. The higher authorities in the university have to understand how essential a spacious parking space would be for students and other school staff and this would certainly solve a big problem.
