The Second Chance Act of 2008 and Opportunity and Affordability Act of 2007 for educating people in prison, are good to start with but many federal laws need to be modified as they hinder educational and employment opportunities for persons with a scandalous background. If the doors of education are open to people in prison how you can close the same when these people are in the outside world. Furthermore, it is known that most of the serious offenses committed on campus belong to students having a seamless background.

Even the Virginia Tech occurrence was carried out by a student who doesn’t have scandalous history. Safety on the campus can be improved by educating students about the use of alcohol, healthy sexual relationship and the impact of crimes, not by restricting the entry of these people to the colleges. These people can prove to be a menace to the society if prevented from getting further education and jobs. The government should take concrete steps to modify the present rules in order to allow the ex-offenders getting further education and jobs.

The discrimination against people possessing criminal past with respect to college admissions should be stopped immediately. It will definitely benefit the person, family, community, and country as a whole. (Customer’s Name)(Customer’s City, Province)
