Overcoming Adversity Overcoming Laziness to Excel Laziness is one condition that can easily dictate whether a persons future will become prosperous or not. Lazy people put less effort in all they do. As a result, the proceeds from their efforts become as little as the input. I remember, back in high school, how laziness caught up with me to an extent that I could not perform well in school because I could hardly study well. During this period, my grades dropped trifold, I hardly attended classes, I dozed off in most classes I attended, and all I could do is to eat snacks.

By good luck, I realized my problem earlier and diagnosed its causes to provide practical solutions that helped me overcome it. It all began when I adopted a kind of feeding habit which was strange even to myself. I got into eating a lot of snacks such as chocolate, yoghurt, hotdogs, pizzas and the like. Fast foods became my only source of joy where a in a day I could take two to three full chickens or almost half a tray of eggs. I began putting on weight little by little. Before I knew it, I was double my initial weight.

It became hard for me to attend to so many things and most of the time, I sought services of whoever was around to help me with most of the errant. I became less mobile and slept a lot, both during the day and at night. I could not fit in most of my clothes anymore, so I had to do an overhaul of my wardrobe. Studying became a problem since, most of the time, I felt like sleeping and tired. My grades started going down, and it is at this moment that I felt I needed to do something. Ive always cherished education and put hard work ahead to achieve good grades.

Being a believer in hard work to achieve every goal I set, I felt like I was not doing any justice to myself since I was not upholding my belief anymore. As a result, I needed to do something to overcome this condition of laziness so that I could get back to being a very hard working person I was before. I did a lot of research in books and internet to learn how I could solve my problem. I finally came to realize that I needed to deal with the cause of my laziness that was changing my eating habit.

After a long struggle, I realized that I needed to drop some of the fatty foodstuffs I used to eat and take small proportions of lean food. In addition, I needed to do a lot of physical exercises. I, therefore, made it a routine, to run around the pitch at least ten times. I also visited the gym every evening and during weekends. Some of the time, I, could only take a healthy breakfast that could take me until evening when I needed to take some small proportion of balanced dinner. Within sometimes, I started getting back my original shape.

Most importantly, I started being more active than before. I could stay attentive in class throughout the whole lesson. I could also take time to study and sleeping times reduced. All these translated into very good grades that I achieved after we took the end of semester exams. In a nutshell, laziness is an enemy of success. However, laziness can be created by our lifestyle. If we want to achieve our goals, we, therefore, need to diagnose the cause of our laziness and deal with it appropriately.

It is a temporary condition that can be changed. However, if not corrected earlier, its impacts on our lives can be very adverse and long-lasting.
