? Literature Program Introduction Education is one of the primary and essential activities especially for the preschool aged children (i.e. children aged between 3 to 5 years) which bestows numerous advantages. In accordance with the present day context, the increasing pace of global economy has resulted in a major emphasis upon the importance of education at the early stage of the life of children which enables them to enhance their human virtue along with facilitating them to cope with different environmental and social factors (Goel, Goel, & Goel, 2005). Based on the importance and essentiality of education at the early stage, this report intends prepare an effective literature plan especially for the preschool children through identifying the development goals which may enable to support the language, intellectual, personality, social and moral as well as aesthetic and creative development of the preschool age children. Thesis Statement The paper concerning the preparation of a literature program plan will be focused on activities and teaching strategies which may support to achieve at least one goal of the development areas. Moreover, the discussion further aims to prepare an effective strategy implementation procedure and an evaluation plan in order to enhance the effectiveness of the literature program. Defining Criteria for Selecting Literature Titles and Media In recent times, a growing concern has been recognized among the concerned authorities in terms of developing appropriate literature based education programs for preschool children. A major reason behind this concern is that at the infancy stage of development in which the preschool children belong the provided learning can have a long-term and lasting impact upon their development. Therefore, planning an efficient literature program keeping in view the probable requirements of this tender age children is an imperative factor which can facilitate to devise this program effectively. In order to accomplish each goal of the literature program, it is quite essential to focus on the activities concerning the value and quality of the educational services. Therefore, the literature program will be designed through selecting literatures based on the titles which fulfill the developmental needs of the early-aged children in terms of their physical, emotional, social as well as cognitive growth. A range of developmental activities as well as strategies will be implemented in order to perform a streamlined experiential learning (Childs Play Learning Center, 2011). The literature program will also involve television as the primary media which would broadcast various initiatives of the literature program which would enable to draw community involvement. In addition, the parents will be considered as a major part of this literature program to increase the efficiency of the preschool learning activities. Identifying the Development Goals Language The language development activities in the literature program will be focused on providing performing activities which allow the preschool children to effectively understand and develop their linguistic skills. In order enhance the capability of the preschool children the activities will be performed independently for each age group. Moreover, telling stories will also be an effective activity which would enable the preschoolers to remain interested with regard to the learning process (Childs Play Learning Center, 2011). Intellectual Learning In order to enhance the intellectual capability of the preschoolers, it’s important to observe regarding how the children tend to practice while doing any activity. As it can be observed that predominantly preschool children learn through observing and doing various activities by themselves. Therefore, the literature program will be focused on different cognitive areas such as numbers, shapes and colors which may enable the preschoolers to enhance their intellectual skills (University of Illinois Board of Trustees, 2013). Personality Development Personality development is an important factor for the preschool children as it can enable them to develop their traits and other similar factors. In order to enhance the personality of the preschool children, the literature program will be focused on making them understand the emotion and personal feelings of others. Moreover, the program would further incorporate the activities that promote the behavior of the preschool children while they are interacting with other people within the society (Learning Street Education Centre, 2012). Social and Moral Development Social and moral development of the preschool children is an important factor which provides them the ability to recognize the distinction between right and wrong and also helps to make them understand in terms of making appropriate choices. Therefore, the activities concerning development of social and moral aspects will be considered as one of the major parts of the literature program (University of Illinois Board of Trustees, 2013). Aesthetic and Creative Development In order to develop the aesthetic and creative parts of the preschool children, the literature program will be focused on conducting activities which reflect to make them free to express their deepest feelings as well as personal thoughts (Learning Street Education Centre, 2012). Activities and Teaching Strategies of the Literature Program Preparation of an effective strategy is quite essential for a literature program while performing various activities to develop the preschool children. Therefore, it is important to characterize different activities of the literature program for each age group of children to efficiently accomplish the desired objectives. The activities of each goal of the literature program have been described below: Language Development Understanding the questions starting with “Who”, “When”, “What”, “Why” and “Where” Building sentences using 5 or more words Telling interesting and understandable stories Intellectual Skill Development Activities Introducing with the numbers, colors and shapes Understanding the use of different tools of drawing Increasing the level of curiosity which can enable to enhance the tendency of asking questions Personality Development Activities Understanding the behavioral or interaction skills Telling relevant stories of developing personality Understanding attitude formation Social and Moral Development Activities Telling different socio-environmental stories through drama and role play Understanding to interact with peers and other members Practicing good habit concerning health and other related factors Aesthetic and Creative Development Activities Making them learn about the community and world through conducting drama, role play and puppetry Discovering different body movements through playing music Using their individual voices to sing Sources: (Childs Play Learning Center, 2011); (Learning Street Education Centre, 2012); and (University of Illinois Board of Trustees, 2013). Implementation of the Literature Program The stage of implementation of literature program is one of the major steps, which facilitates to identify the role and the efficiency of the literature program. The implementation stage of the literature program will highly focus on demarcating the preschoolers in different segments according to their age. The preschool children will be characterized into three categories i.e. 3 years, 4 years and 5 years in order to effectively perform different activities concerning their language, behavioral as well as social development. With this concern, the literature program will be conducted in different communities beyond culture and other demographic differences. The literature program will be driven by the association of the Department of Education (DOE). In addition, the implementation of the proposed literature plan will also encompass the most disadvantaged children groups in different communities of the district (New Jersey Department of Education, 2010). Evaluation of the Proposed Literature Plan The goals of developing preschool children through the literature program will be performed under research-based practices and it will also focus on creation and association of the plan with the value and quality-based preschool programs. According to the goals of the program, it can be identified that the development of language, intellectual skills, personality, social and moral as well as aesthetic and creativity aspects are among the quite essential factors for the preschool children to be more efficient to cope with the challenging global environment. Moreover, the involvement of technological elements such as computers and projectors in the literature program can also provide more insights while providing education to the preschool children. The desired success of the plan can be evaluated with the increase in the amount of involvement of the children in the program and from their enthusiastic participation in each of the activities of the program (New Jersey Department of Education, 2010). Conclusion According to the present increasing development of the global environment, a literature program concerning development of the preschool children is one of the major considerations, which enables a community to ascertain effective growth and development of children. The aforementioned literature plan for the preschoolers can be identified to be quite effective to develop language and intellectual skills along with ensuring their behavioral and social development. Moreover, the plan incorporates various valuable activities which can also be beneficial for the preschoolers to enhance their virtue and enable them to be more competent to cope with various environmental conditions.
