The Most Effective Soft Skill for a Business Introduction In this complicated and competitive age, soft skill plays a very essential part within a business organization or a corporate. The prime reason behind this is to amplify the interpersonal relationship among the co-members and management. However, due to improvement of the interpersonal relationships, the level of inner morale and confidence of the employees enhances that amplifies their rate of performance as well. Thus, due to improvement of the performance of the employees, their devotion and commitment over the assigned tasks increases (Robert 2009, 516). This helps the organization to make varied types of inventions that may easily satisfy the changing requirements of the customers. Hence, the brand image and reputation of the organization or a business association might get enhanced to a significant extent in this aggressive market among many other rival players (Rao 2010, 867). Moreover, soft skills act as the driving force within a business organization of this age, in order to amplify the bonding among the co-members (Ramesh & Ramesh 2010, 938). Improvement of bonding helps to reduce the interpersonal conflicts thereby amplifying the concept of teamwork and coordination among the co-members of an organization. However, due to improvement of coordination among the team members, the rate of attrition reduces to a considerable extent. Due to reduction of the rate of attrition, numerous highly experienced and talented employees remain within the organization that helps to improve its loyalty and market share. Therefore, due to these above mentioned causes, maximum extent of the business organizations offer high attention over the concept of soft skills (Suresh 2010, 223). The rationale of this essay is to analyse the most effective soft skill for a business that may improve its prosperity and profitability in the market among others. Discussion What is soft skill? Soft skill is recognised as those inner skills that are extremely essential for an individual at the time of interaction with others such as emotional intelligence, tactfulness, inner confidence, morale, thinking power etc. All these soft skills play a vital role for an individual at the time of decision-making and help to cope up with any sort of challenges in an effective way (Morreale & et. al. 2007, 655). This type of thinking power and intelligence helps to amplify the total sale and productivity of the organization that increases its reliability and brand value in the market. Moreover, effective utilisation of soft skills also helps an individual to maintain a good relationship with other members thereby magnifying the intensity to gather varied types of information and ideas (Halimi & et.al. 2011, 413). But, in order to maintain these soft skills in an effective way, proper training and development is extremely essential. Then, it might prove effective for the individual employees as well as the organization to amplify its prosperity and trust in the market to a considerable extent. Identifying the importance of soft skill competencies within a business organization and to evaluate the best soft skill According to Houghton & Proscio (2001), skills such as technical and conceptual are extremely essential for the managers of an organization so as to tackle its employees in an effective way. Technical skills are essential for a manager to calculate the productivity of an employee as well as the profitability of the organization among others. Similarly, conceptual skills are essential in order to make varied types of decisions such as implementation of HR policies, regulations, salary, resolving any sort of problems etc. Moreover, human skills are the interpersonal skills that are essential at the time of communication with other employees or union members of a business organization (Thurau & Hensen 2008, 135). However, among all these three skills, the most important one is the human skills. Human skills are considered as the conceptual or soft skills that help to understand the feelings and emotions of the other members at the time of communication (Hargie 2006, 151). As a result of proper understanding of the inner desires and feelings of the co-members, the higher organizational members act accordingly. However, due to such type of activities and policies, the inner morale and satisfaction of the employees gets enhanced to a significant extent. This helps to increase their cooperation and commitment with other employees resulting in innovation of varied types of products and services. Innovation of products and services helps to attract a wide range of customers of varying income groups and age groups (Klaus 2009, 645). Thus, due to enhancement of the customer ranges, the profitability of the business organization increases that augments its strengths and opportunities. Furthermore, conceptual skills or interpersonal skills also help to enhance the leadership power, communication power and management power. Leadership power means the skills to tackle and handle the changing requirements and desires of the employees in an efficient way so as to retain their motivation (Francis n. d., 312). If the level of motivation among the employees might be maintained then, the operations and functions of the organization might be continued. Then, the productivity and total sales of the organization might get enhanced day by day that may increase its total revenues and profitability. Just like leadership skills, communication skill is also extremely essential for a manager of a business organization (Petrie 2011, 317). Due to this skill, the manager might communicate with the employees and it may enhance the inner skills and talents (Ellis 2009, 72). Thus, due to improvement of the inner skills and talents, the level of dedication and performance of the employees might get improved. Moreover, due to high communication skills, the employees might easily share their views and ideas in front of the management, prior finalising any decision (Bhatnagar n. d. 245). This helps to improve the self esteem and confidence of the employees that amplifies their dedication over the assigned tasks. However, due to improvement of the dedication power, the rate of errors reduces thereby intensifies the quality of work. This helps the employees to gain the bonuses and incentives at the time of appraisals that enhances the career opportunities and dreams of the employees. Conceptual skills such as high thinking power or planned thinking power helps to monitor the progress of the organization thereby resolving any sort of problems or issues. Thus, creative thinking helps the tactical leaders or managers of the business organization to think systematically as well as to act purposefully (Banerjee 2008, 612). Hence, planned thinking skill helps to enhance the culture and structure of the organization by reducing the conflicts among diverse workforces. Thus, soft skill of high thinking ability enhances the performance of the organization by developing and retaining the talented staffs for long run. Therefore, it might be stated that, although soft skills are just like ice-bergs, embedded in the surface of the body, still these skills help an individual to control and tackle all sort of challenging work environments (Prakashan n. d., 34). Hence, it might be depicted clearly that, conceptual soft skills are essential not only for employee management but also to retain a specific organizational culture and management style (Buttle 2010, 64). Soft skills enhances organizational profitability In this age, sustainability and profitability are the prime requirements of any business organization. It might prove effective for the organization in enhancing its total revenue and brand value in the market among other contenders. However, in order to do so, it is extremely essential to attract a wide range of new customers and to retain the existing ones. Only then, the total sales and position of a business organization might get enhanced. But in order to improve the competitiveness and dominance of a business organization, customer relationship is extremely essential (Christopher & et. al. 2013, 812). According to Baron & et. al. (2010), relationship marketing acts as the driving force for a business organization, operating in this age, as it helps to develop new relations. It is through relationship marketing, a business organization might enhance its loyalty and trust within the minds of the customers. Moreover, if the organization tries to offer value-added products at a quite competitive price, then it may surely prove effective in long run. However, by presenting such type of products and services, the loyalty and consistency of the brand might get enhanced within the minds of the customers (Brink & Berndt 2009, 945). Therefore, due to improvement of the inner confidence, the customers might try to remain with the product lines of the organization that may increase its profitability and total sales. Thus, the rate of switchover costs of the organization might get lowered. But, the prime essence of relationship marketing is the presence of tactical soft skills (Chambers 2001, 712). This means, in order to retain the position and reputation of a business organization, it need to make varied types of strategic decisions. For examples: in case of any sort of changes in policies or regulations within the organization, the stakeholders, shareholders and customers need to be informed. Then, it might prove effective for the organization in amplifying its brand image and market share among other rival players (Worth 2004, 756). Furthermore, in order to retain the image of presenting highly advanced products and services, the organization need to maintain a good bonding with its employees. It might be possible only by fulfilling both the primary and secondary demands. But, in order to know these demands, the management might maintain a good relationship with its employees (Beardwell & Claydon 2010, 512-523). Then, their inner morale and stimulus to work hard might get enhanced that may present varied types of inventive product lines (Adair 2010, 223-232). Thus, it might be stated that conceptual soft skill or tactically thinking power is the most essential requisite of a business organization. Analysis After analysing and evaluating all the above mentioned points, it might be depicted that strategic or calculative thinking ability is extremely essential. It is through calculative thinking, a manager tackles its employees and enhances their dedication to accomplish the desired goal. Moreover, conceptual or tactical thinking helps a business organization to amplify its 4P’s so as to increase its customer base and profitability in the market among others (Amer 2011, 423). Thus, it might be evaluated that with the help of high thinking power, the management might increase the awareness level of the customers that may increase the prosperity of the organization. Hence, conceptual skills help to improve the values and belief of the customers by presenting high quality of products (Amer 2008, 213). Therefore, a strong bonding is created within the hearts of the customers that surely improves their purchasing behaviours. Conclusion Conclusively, after reviewing all the points, it might be stated that soft skill is not only essential to improve employee performance, but to increase the overall productivity and sale. However, to do so, effective relationship is extremely essential. It is through relationship that helps to increase the dedication or devotion of the employees and the loyalty of the customers towards the products of the organization. Thus, in spite of high bargaining power of the customers and intensive competitor rivalry, the position and reliability of a business organization might be improved significantly through soft skill or effective relationships.
