It should be result oriented and goal driven. The success in time management is measured by the quantity of productive work attained and the persons’ private life. I attained this by developing a personal sense of time, identified long term goals, medium term goals, planned for the day, made the best use of my best time, managed meetings, delegated effectively, made use of committed time, and finally managed my health. This view is supported in the work of (Adair, 1990:24). Personal development plan Purpose in life: born to ensure that I live a purposeful and fulfilling life. Dreams: to effectively get along with others Short term goal: to be decisive and determined person Long term goal: to achieve leadership and team building skills. Beliefs and values: make effort while keep on striving Success and milestones: can identify needs, can overcome challenges, and act friendly. Task 2 Skills are the learned capacity or having that ability to carry out pre-determined results with minimum outlay of both time and energy. Therefore, these are abilities that one possesses. Skills can be categorized as domain general or domain specific skills. This view is supoorted in the work of (Lussier, 2011:56). Unlike some of the general skills in the work environment comprise of time management, team work, and leadership, and self motivation, the domain specific skills would be useful for a certain job or activity. Moreover, skills need a certain environmental stimuli and the situations to assess the skill level being shown and used. Some of the skills include labor skills, life skills, people’s skills, social skills, soft skills, and communication skills. Skills assessment helps you to learn about the strengths and weaknesses of your skills. People are more likely to be contented with career choices that are consistent with values, interest and skills. Skills assessment helps you identify the useful skills that you may possess. Skills development is the adding value to the skills that you have and also learning about new skills through training and development programs. Teaching of a new skill is attained through verbal instruction, demonstration, video, diagram, and photo sequence. Some of the skills that I possess with other students include cognitive skills, perceptual, motor, and perceptual motor. Many organizations require a person who is team player, has leadership skills, and has personal integrity. Integrity is the building block of peoples’ skills. This means there basic honesty and truthfulness when dealing with others. Therefore, skills like openness, determination, resourcefulness, and being realistic is paramount in any professional set-up and as an individual because most of the times you are meeting people (Lussier, 2011). By personally taking the initiative to develop my skills I worked on my character and skill development by choosing to design a life that honors our values and purpose. The possession of soft skills has much of an impact on your success as your technical skills. The importance of soft skills transcends industry and profession. Training and development of your skills can be beneficial to the business on many perspectives. Training has numerous importance and they include: workers are helped to focus and also priority is placed on empowering them; the bottom line is positively affected by increasing production; the confidence of the employee is built, developing and keeping the key performers, enables team development, and also contributes to better morale of the organization; there is a significant better delivery of customer service by allowing employees to be kept current on the latest job related information. The available opportunities available for skill development may include blogging which develops the skills in leadership, networking, time management, creativity, finance, strategic planning and decision making, financial management, and marketing. Furthermore, by participating in debates, conflict resolution, and delegation we typically sharpen our management skills both for the present and the future. By resolving conflicts it helps you understand other peoples’ needs and points of view. Therefore, by taking time to understand other people’s perspective you actually demonstrate your patience and team building skills. Training and development program is another avenue of evaluating and identifying developing skill development. By showing people that they are valued in the business, it boosts their morale and motivation besides multi-skilling which facilitates risk management strategy in a business. Some of the other available resources for skill development include colleges, co-curricula activities, and utilization of educational aids to develop fine motor skills especially for those with special needs. Task 3: The key to effective time management is literary being your own boss. This is because you will be you will only be accountable yourself. However, one of the hindrances to time management is procrastination. For effective time you should ensure the following: keeping your long term goals in sight. This is to establish which routes will take you to your destination; making a schedule for everything that you have knowledge about; starting tomorrow at the end of today; ensure that you have a work plan that will ensure that you work according to plan; division of the harder into smaller manageable units; allowing flexibility in your schedule which gives you extra time to cope up with interruptions in your schedule; in case of failure there is always time for making up everything. For better time management you must develop skills like: being organized, making friends which makes you to be a team player due to your ability to create good relations, focusing on the purpose, having an understanding of basic things, working on the things that are considered important, avoiding work every time by engaging in other constructive activities, and finally writing down everything that you may be thinking about (Nguyen, 2012). Task 4: According to Spark (2011, p. 3) argues that curriculum vitae consist of: Contact Information Name: Address: Telephone: Cell Phone: Email: Personal Information Date of Birth: Place of Birth: Citizenship: Visa Status: Gender: Optional Personal Information Marital Status: Spouse's Name: Employment History List in chronological order, include position details and dates Work History Academic Positions Research and Training Education High School: University/ College: Professional Qualifications Computer Skills: software (MS Project, MS Office, QuarkXPress, Photoshop) Web/ multimedia: (web server administration, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, and ColdFusion). Task 5: Self managed learning is about individuals managing their own way of learning. This comprises of people taking responsibility for the decisions made regarding what you learn, how they learn, when they learn, where they learn, and why they learn. Therefore, self managed learning is all about setting out of goals for the learning and evaluation of the purpose of learning and the ways to attain such goals. The approaches to self managed learning comprise of seminars and conferences, social networks, and internet. The benefits of self-learning to the organization: decision making is improved through education or work experience thus improving decision making skills; being ethical is advantageous to the organization is person has a good moral judgment; problem solving, are transferable skills that can easily be acquired from education, work, or hobbies and can be applied to solve problems in the organization, organizations prefer people with a flexible working pattern. An individual can obtain this through self-learning by focusing to the objectives of the organization (Cunningham, Dawes, & Bennett, 2004:64-65). Life long learning could be encouraged by any business organization by encouraging its employees to evaluate their strength, weakness, opportunity, and threats (SWOT analysis). The encouragement of self-reflective learning helps one to acquire new skills at the place of work in addition to continuous development learning that combines approaches, ideas, and techniques to help you develop your personal learning. Cunningham supports that positive impacts of self-learning to an individual comprise of team work skills acquired through academic background, group work assignment, or the university projects. Presentation skills are improved when we are given a chance to present topics in front of the class, tutors, and people giving you confidence to talk in front of people. Communication skills, self learning aids you to develop communication and writing skills which are of use to the objectives of an organization (Cunningham, 1999:78). Seminars and conferences gives people the opportunity to present their knowledge about something to the other persons thus ending up learning new things. They also aid people to become confident in public speaking and presentation skills vital to any organization. The social networks like facebook, my space, Twitter and my year book where people spend more than two hours daily time chatting with people, thereby learning about new things about other peoples’ information.
