Personal Career Planning Introduction Now that graduation day is near, it is vital for us Loyola Marymount Students be updated what is waiting for us after graduation. That is to say, we require a designed plan. This paper will contain three major sections. The first will be the introduction. Secondly, it will outline a magnification on a Professional Development Investigation that I carried out. Third, a career plan of the LMU career plan where there will be a plan that is quite speculative following some years once graduation is done. The significance of this work is to a novice like me. Graduation being less than a year to come, it is necessary to design a career plan to act as a guideline for learning and professional advancement. In this paper, an attempt will be done right from class, internships as well as organizations of students. The school has business specialization in various categories that fall within the Department of business administration, finance and Economics. The various departments avails a fundamental and culturally significant business concept that exposes students to the larger business world. The business concepts touch on economic aspects of any company in a given country. The business analysts collaborate with academicians across all fields through the lines of academic disciplines and business interactions with the surrounding Los Angeles communities. The business department also offers diverse learning opportunities in various business fields. In general, the business department encourages me to explore the business world in a more visual and real way by availing experience in doing business. The other career development service available in the LMU’s Office of Career and Professional Development is the theater arts. The Theatre Arts program provides me with a strong inclusive course work schooling and experience in such fields as acting, design, directing, theatre technology, criticism, history and playwriting. Intimate classes give room for close working associations as pertains to the faculty. I am certain to get a unique experience in theater with standard, current multicultural networks, political as well as progressive. I can also have opportunities to undertake personal research and projects that are quite creative. Besides, I am able to participate greatly and exclusively to study in overseas system with the Moscow Art Theater. This program emphases on professional planning in order to enter the industry professional theatre world, new work development together with a training in the master pieces and theatre. All this is for social justice. This is betterment of the world by my art. Through this program, I can take training on various careers in film, Television, producing, theatre, playwriting, casting, arts management and event planning Majoring in theater arts can also develop a concrete communication and governance skills and enable me to apply them in humanistic setting. Additionally, training me for a vast array of professional careers, this LMU program sets the basis for students to pursue alumna work in academic and as conservatory systems. Besides, some courses are designed to be a bridge towards attaining Success. In my final year, I may pursue Career Development. This offers a summary of modern trends in forming toward Specialized work in theatre, television as well as film with appointments from skilled artists such as managers, actors, agents and casting directors. This builds a thought of the unique necessities and confronts that life that an artist in our society presents. For instance such problems include; personal finance, professional conduct, unions and how to grow and maintain career opportunities. I can take a senior thesis is to create a work body that can lead to opportunities in post-graduation. Apart from that, I can as well pursue one of many placements with local theatre, companies dealing with various productions and industry organizations. In many times Loyola Marymount University produces a show case of an industry for seniors who are graduating and who have successfully finished the career development class. The showcase is conducted at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles for an audience who has been invited, particularly industry professionals. They include; theatrical and commercial agents, studio casting executives, personal managers and casting directors. In the past years, the showcase helped graduates get commercial as well as theatrical representation. Further it has opened careers of various new actors. I expect the same too. 2. Insights gained in this semester. I realized that career planning requires a strategic analysis. Furthermore, I have noted that it is vital that I should do a research on the same before making an appropriate choice. The information I have gained from professional speakers and mentors in career planning this semester has improved my profile in career planning. The experience of various career speakers has greatly mentored me in an outstanding w. Based on way. By the fact that the speakers are paid to do the job, it is evident that they are highly qualified individuals and hence an important source of information. I took their words seriously and I am certain that I will implement it. These individuals have profound knowledge on this subject and hence a rich source of information. I discovered that the most fundamental thing I did and should always do is to have a clear record of all these insights in either hard or softcopy for preview and analysis for better understanding. After I have taken a number of previews in this semester’s career development talks that I noted down, they have stuck in my mind and I am working towards success based on their back up. 3. Professional skills improvement I did an exercise on some professional skills and I noted to be low. Thus, I realized that I had to perfect on these skills: a. Interpersonal and group management skills. In this case, these are elements of advanced management techniques. I realized that I didn’t have appropriate communication skills to even lead a group. Interpersonal skills refer to the ability to understand and therefore relate to both the people and groups and motivate others to perform at the highest levels. I lacked that ability to motivate others. b. Technical skills These are skills which provide a basis for understanding tasks that require specialized knowledge. These skills are especially important for they will provide an absolute know-how of my future working environment. I realized that I required these skills to know how to perform my future professional tasks. Technical skills include; knowledge about technology, products and services, finance and accounting, decision making, forecasting and planning. Written communication skills I have to communicate with people. These are skills which require one to have a complete knowledge on passing and receiving information through paperwork or electronic means.
