Introduction Every individual has an aspiration to achieve a desirable job that can bring growth and success in a particular field. There are many jobs available in the society in different sectors. Most of the companies are multinational and there are possibilities to learn from the experience of different people from different culture and ethnics. Some of us have already thought about a job that can fulfill our dreams while others are still trying to figure out. Some people have already tried working in some place and then they decided to do something else. As we already know in the modern world; working for the same company for the entire life shows no place. There are various opportunities in different fields. All we need to do is focus on a specific post in a company and try to reach the position by dedication and a little smart work. My dream job is to become a production manager in a software industry. Being in a software industry I will have the opportunity to handle different projects that are helpful in modernization of technology. This assignment will discuss about a job description of a manager along with compensation, benefits and appraisal program in a software company. Discussion Most of the software companies in the world hire people with skills in programming and software testing. Being a production manager my responsibility will be to take over the challenges required in completion of a project successfully. A manager in a software company is responsible for selecting a project that can be completed by the team, explaining the details about the project, managing manpower and completion of the project in time. These are the key specifications that a manager needs to take care of while an on-going assignment. There are two major challenges for a manager in a software company. First is to select an appropriate project that the assigned team can handle. The project selected must be easy for the team members so that can complete it in time without any errors. The second most important challenge is to motivate the team members so that they do not take a leave between the crucial days. Lack of proper workforce can lead to delay of job which might not be accepted by a company. Hence these are the two major challenges to take care of being a manager of a software company. Another important responsibility of a manager is to communicate with the management about any threats his team may come across while handling an important assignment. It is a manager’s duty to balance and bridge the gap between employees and management (Aubery, 2010). Being a manager in a software company my expectation is to get a handsome salary as per the company standards. The salary structure of a manager should include; basic salary, performance allowances, house allowance, car allowance and performance based bonus. These factors very essential because this type of salary structure can help me sustain in the industry moreover my motivation will be more if payment satisfies my expenses. Apart from the compensation factor there should also be some benefits by a company so that security persist while working and even after retirement. There should be a good contribution by company towards provident fund gratuity because these savings will finally become my mode of income after retirement from the organization. There is another factor that should also be taken care of by an organization in order to gain the interest of employees that is health insurance. Most of the organizations in the modern world provide health insurance to their employees. The health insurance is provided because employees should not face any trouble while working for a company. Health insurance helps in development of employee interest and as a manager there should be a proper health insurance that can cover my life as well as the life of my family members. My compensation to company should be $1600 or above because the job that I perform requires lot of management power and is stressful. There are even times that I would have to stay back at office for completion of target. A manager’s job is one of the most important one in an organization. Team handling, employee management and analysis of new projects are a challenging job and there needs to be a set of rules that everyone should follow to give higher production. My job is one of the toughest one in the organization because everyone and almost everything in the organization is my responsibility. Hence the salary mentioned is something that anyone in this would deserve. It is true that before making a salary structure management needs to be specific at many things; for example ensuring fairness in salaries, continuous re-evaluation of salary structure, directing work activities of subordinates and many other factors. However the bottom line is that salary should also be described as per the role of a person in an organization. Hence being a project manager it is justified. The benefit plans on the other hand should be supportive. The provident fund amount collected and deposited by the company should be twice because after retirement a person might not have much savings hence it is the responsibility of a company to take care of the future perspectives and opportunities of an employee (Davies, 2012). Health insurance should also be active until an employee becomes eligible for Medicare. If this the only position in the organization of its kind I will have to be completely data oriented in order to survive in the industry. The annual appraisal includes the individual ratings for all employees in the organization; including the performance, compliance and perception of management towards an employee. The annual appraisal is not only beneficial for employees to give them an increment, it also helps the management to decide weather an employee sustain the amount of pressure on an employee. There is always a pressure and target in every organization to enhance the productivity of the organization and to develop skills of employees. Every company has a procedure to analyze its employees and being a manager I will need to meet my data every month so that my PMS can show outstanding results. My company’s performance is divided into five rankings. G1p1, G2p2, G3p3, G4p4, G5p5. Out of these rankings G5p5 is the highest level and it is my target to obtain this level in order to make my position secure and have more growth opportunities. G3p3 is the minimum target ranking according my company; and employees under this ranking for more than 2 years might face trouble in their progress. According to my performance this year I am eligible for the Group 4 bracket. The reason behind this is my team has performed well this year, we have been able to achieve quality points and completed work before time moreover we have been able to reduce the shrinkage and optimist attendance. Adherence factor was also there and every policy was adhered. These are some of the factors that I have been able to achieve with the help of my team. Hence I consider my performance is at a justified level and Group 4 bracket is something that I deserve. Being a manager I always had challenges while picking up projects that can be completed by my team in a stipulated time (Babu, 2006). For Software Company commitment of time is the most important factor along with quality. The quality of projects is determined by the QAD team; any errors in the projects could have been a threat in our career. Fortunately the challenges were taken care of successfully and implementing high quality works made things easy and achievable for me in this organization. To be a part of a software company was always a dream for me and being a manager in a software company I will have chances to make my life better. As already discussed every individual has their own set of goals and dream jobs but to get one is really challenging. A person needs to be completely dedicated and focused while making a decision and working for it. Conclusion From the above discussion it is clear that achievement does not come to a person easily. A person needs to be ready to take chances and understand the challenges in life. There is a moment in everyone’s life to become something but dreams change with time. It is required to take the right decision in the right time to make life fruitful and worth. Earning a high salary should not be someone’s aim. A person should always try to do a job that can make him happy and successful. Performance of an individual is determined on the amount interest a person has because it drives a person’s ability towards a specific job. Becoming a Manager of a software company is not an easy job and many people might not like this idea but this job is something that I have long dreamt of and according to me success depends on strong determination.
