Discuss 3 factors or characteristics that you think makes this individual (the CEO) an effective leaderThe three important factors are:Build reputationIt is one of the main characteristics of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) that he should lead the company to success and should give new direction to the organization and should make effective communication with line managers.

He should ensure the good return to the share holders it is his responsibility to expand the business. “When Skinner became CEO, he sold them all off in their entirety in order to keep the focus on the core.”Because youre good with hamburgers, you think you can do pizzas or rental cars or an IT business or sell your know-how," says former executive Hennequin” (Kowitt, 2011, para. 19).Develop Skill and AbilitiesThe CEO should develop the skill of employees and he should clarify the objectives to the line managers as well as employees the CEO must be humble towards his subordinate and should motivate them to achieve organizational goal.

“I am always taken by the humble leader.  Many arrogant, fear-inducing leaders have coerced their people to attain audacious goals. But fear can induce high attrition; employee stress and dissatisfaction that ultimately have a negative impact on the organization” (Shaun, 2010).Good Team WorkIt is an important characteristic of a CEO that he should be capable to work in a team and lead the employees as a single team to achieve organizational goals. In team work each one shall have role and responsibility all members in the team motivated to achieve specific organizational goal.

The CEO has to play a major role and he should get the cooperation from all other employees to lead the business success.2. Discuss 3 factors or characteristics that a credible management industry source thinks makes this individual an effective leader. Support your argument with reliable outside sources. Jim Skinner became the CEO of the firm in 2004. Various credible management sources have named this individual as an effective leader. In the year 2007 Dow Jones/Market Watch has labeled Skinner as the ‘CEO of the year’.

The Restaurants and Institutions Magazine and the Institutional Investor Magazine have also named him as a very popular American CEO. The top three leadership skills of Skinner are his involvement with McDonalds to promote long term and sustainable growth of the firm. He has reflected his high leadership qualities by way of excellent talent management and development of leadership qualities within the firm. His character as a leader is to bring in a balanced and active lifestyle in the organization.

“Skinner set three top priorities for his leadership: long-term sustainable growth for the company; talent management and leadership development; and promoting balanced active lifestyles” (Skinner, 2011).3. What do you think will be the key cultural or organizational legacythis leader will leave behind?The key cultural and organizational legacy that the leader leaves behind is his strong leadership skills for the development of the organization and for its long term growth. As a leader Jim Skinner has also nurtured the leadership skills in the organization and has paved way for the development of leadership qualities within the organization.
