Reflection of a scientific journal. The scientific papers usually contemplate on facts which are difficult to be approved by people and scholars in general. In the prescribed scientific paper every attempt is made to prove the fact that genetics and environment plays a large role in academic performance in children rather that intelligence. The hypothesis in the scientific journal is whether or not genetically influenced traits decide the academic skill than intelligence alone. The scientific paper take into consideration the importance of compulsory learning and its co- relation with genetic traits and environment and the way its impacts individual children, families and the society itself.
This paper looks at the hypothesis using a multivariate design. Here wide range of predictors, such as self-efficacy, personality, and behavior problems, to assess their independent and joint contributions to educational achievement are put to test. The authors are using a very sensitive issue which is genetics and educational achievement. As we see, genetics vary between every individual and even identical twins as mentioned in the scientific journal can have minute variation which may be difficult to detect even by scientists.
One flaw in the intention of the study is that they are omitting the fact that nature never duplicates. Every human differ from another on a minute scale which can be incomprehensible for the scientist and this can give defective results many times. So the question of the scientist that whether genetically heritage influence academic achievement and why academic accolade is highly appreciative as it seems to be a highly confusing fact. The scientific study for the given hypothesis was done with aid of a study where United Kingdom was venue and children of age 16 were targeted.
The study looks at the heritage of gene and environment alone. The characteristics of the children at the age of 16 are only looked into and the importance of intelligence is omitted partially. If one thinks logically, intelligence can be considered as a genetic trait because many people are born with sharp intelligent quotient which they inherit from their parents or forefathers. So the study technique or method cannot be simply being appreciated. Here, the study has taken into consideration mean of GCSE core subjects like English, mathematics and science.
It shows that the capability to study these subject need heritable traits this could be partly true as such subjects need more dedication, punctuality, and analyzing skill along with intelligence. One of the highlight of the study is regarding the amount of children got involved in the research procedure. The authors have done a detailed study on the subject and have included around 13,306 children who are twins as participants. This is a hectic effort and the results is arrived by analyzing these many twins and results are to an extend credible.
However, the researchers should understand that nature never duplicates and every person has their own genetic composition and sometimes the right chance at right time can change their academic skill or achievements. One thing which can be mentioned is that the authors did not invest in unimportant matters and was concentrating on the subject highly. Ultimately, it could be stated that this scientific journal is worth studying and interpreting on as it look at a highly valuable subject which is inherited abilities, intelligence and its effect on academicals achievements of children in UK.
