I have chosen to analyze "Les Demoiselles d’Avignon" by Pablo Picasso. In English it means ‘The Young Ladies of Avignon.’ The art technique is painting and the media used is oil paint on canvas. I chose this painting because of the elements of nude colored women and how they contrast with the background behind the subjects in the painting.

During a visit to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia there came an opportunity to view to pieces of art by American artist Jasper Johns. The first piece is titled “Map” and was created in 1961 with oil on canvas. The work is large against the wall, and the viewer is almost overwhelmed by its size.
