Kill me Now My friend told me about the TV show which is the dance competition “Kill me now” then I made a plan with him to watch this show on Friday December 7, 2012 at the BALL PARK. I saw that the department of Theatre and Dance of Rowans Chamberlain Student Center presents the super awesome Ultimate Dance Competition show which is named as “Kill me now” and it is a very suspicious and interesting dance show in which ultimate dance competition gets dramatic this work is devised by John Clancy, directed and choreographed by the faculty member Melanie Stewart. This new piece by department of Theatre and Dance is the ultimate competition game show “Kill Me Now”. It is based on a group of people belongs to different background such as Afro-American gay dancer, Indian, Russian, Spanish, religious dancer, psychopath, weigh filter etc. having a dance competition between them; they fight to win a prize of best dancer. In this game show audience is also a part of the article and dramatic version of this reality show. Dance show Kill Me Now features almost eight characters in this competition along with a host and judges, a DJ which holds the background music, a score keeper and the Dance crew of Kill Me Now. Dancers are very excited to win and every time they want to give their best in front of judges. Dancer is not concern with the winning amount, they are not aware of what they get prize in result of this competition they just want to win. And they do also not know the ultimate prize for the winner. At each performance of this game show, audience will cast votes to choose the winner of this dance competition. At the end of this dance show the winner found its ultimate prize for which they were competing for and it is the death of the winner of this dance competition; winner gets kill by judge of this show. Through this play writer delivers the message that sometimes we do not use are senses. This game show is modeled after current reality shows on TV in which some are comic based, highly interactive experience, fast-paced where the audience is very excited and wants to watch these kinds of reality shows always. And the main theme of this game show is that we are belong to a culture whom always love to compete and audience enjoy watching these competitions they don’t care about cast, religion, color of competitors. Every day we watch in different reality shows on different channels. People are very keen to watch these reality shows either they are kids, youngsters or old age people they just have an interest in these competitors of shows like American Idol, Cooking expert, dancing with the start, Summer days with blackberry and so much more. People take participate in these competitions day by day; hundreds and thousands of people compete each other, even people excited for the fame of 5 second, they don’t care about humiliation in front of the world. Millions of people watched the conditions of these competitors at their televisions, they laughed at them because judges humiliate them badly. It seems clearly that these competitions hurt the contestant. These reality shows put people in painful, humiliating and embarrassing situations and the rest of us when we watch this condition of contestants we laughed at them and be entertained. And we continue to watch these shows each night with new drama as people coming and make a fool of themselves we thought that we spent our best time. But this is the worst time ever we had because to laugh at someone is bad habit but media forced the society to avail this opportunity and sin at no cost. The other thing is that we as a culture and as a human being love to “judge” and “be judged” and to win at all costs. The Rowan production makes a best play for the audience to judge them that what they are doing by watching these reality shows. This is the message of writer which he wants to deliver by the dance show “Kill Me Now”. People don’t care about economic downfall while watching this reality TV shows because people enjoy watching these humiliated TV shows. The message concludes from the dance show competition “Kill Me Now” is that the contestants will continue to compete even if they don’t know about the prize and the audience invited by production team also seems senseless to enjoy the show in which they don’t know about the prize. And we as a culture we give preference to the competition in respect of death like in Kill Me Now dance competition when people excited to see the winning prize of the best dancer and the result is the death of best dancer is the prize of winner. Stewart the director and choreographer take care of the designer team in which the set designer is Joseph Napolitano which decorates the stage according to the theme of this reality show. The lightning designer Robert Thorpe also did stunning work; focus and projection light illuminate the dance floor which attracts by audience. There is almost seven casts with different background compete with each other on a dance floor. The competition of these teams directed under the direction of the main host Hanz Deekengrabben and co-host Cassie Grahm. There is a separate blocking stage for contestants where they compete with their opponents. They compete for the points giving by the hosts, audiences and the celebrity judges. And all the contestants judged by their full paced dance, techniques, beauty and poise. The costume designer of “Kill Me Now” dance completion show is Stephanie Nichols which makes the reflective suits of dancers which reflects their background and the culture from which they belong like Spanish costume, Indian costume, religious costume, costume having American Flag printed on it and other different costumes of different people wear on the floor. Each costume of contestant represents its background and culture. Through this judges and audience can note their enthusiasm and give marks on it. They compete with all their power, strength and give their best because each contestant wants to win at any cost. The sound designer is David Cimetta which holds the all setup of sound on the set. Sounds produce when competitor starts and finish its dance. There were several rounds of competition and each round having different sound effects. The dramaturge is Anthony Hostettler and photographer/videographer of this show is Joe Grasso. Unfortunately at the end of this awesome show, a cast lost his life after each competition by self-suicide because wining excitement is much more than the importance of their lives. “Everyone is a Judge” in this reality show. Each looser joins the judge team and call death for the next looser and winner also killed by judge. So the title “KILL ME NOW” implies on this show completely by watching the character of audience, judges and hosts. They are the killers of the cast. It’s really a great opportunity to watch a live play. The audience is attached with the contestants and dance crew all the time in the play from the beginning to the end. The audience marks are the death letter for the contestants. The contestants play this game without knowing the prize. And the ultimate prize for the winner of this dance competition is death. This entire dance competition reality show is produced for today audience because writer wants to realize them that their marks become the reason of someone’s death. Read More
