This includes the film’s color palette, style, as well as tone. Unlike the directors of live-action films, those of animated movies have high control responsibility. In other words, the directors of animated films are responsible for micromanaging the whole process of production. Therefore, the features of animated films are perhaps composed of a single vision unlike those of live-action films (Filmsite 2011).The production process of 3D animated movies begins with the screenplay. While some studios will begin by formulating an idea before setting in the visual, plot and the characters, others will not begin until they get a script.

All in all, the directors must be served with a rough sketch presenting the settings, characters and the key set parts. The images that are presented in 2D are manipulated using computers and turned into 3D- this manipulation can be done endlessly. Here, the director is responsible for giving guidance to the artists, regarding how to bring out the storyboard, portraying a comprehensive representation, especially for all the shots made in the film (Crandol 2010)Another crucial role of the director is to record and cast the voices of the characters.

Prior to commencement of the actual animation, the actors are responsible for recording the conversation so that the animators can decide how and when to manipulate the mouths of the characters. Therefore, the director should assist in filling the details since the framework of the scene is sometimes not clear. For instance, the actor might forget some details such as whether the character is unhappy, and it is the role of the director to remind them (Beam 2009).ReferencesBeam, C., 2009.
