Lake Havasu Lake Havasu is one of the jewels in the southwestern region of America. It is located in Mohave County that is in the northwest region of the state of Arizona and initially served as an Army Air Corps rest site for the duration of World War II. Later, the land that would become Lake Havasu was purchased by Robert McCulloh Senior and then established on the 30th of September 1963 by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors. Lake Havasu City is geographically secluded from the other cities in the county of Mohave (DesertUSA). The beautiful city has also appeared on various travel magazines and documentaries throughout the nation that further strengthens the belief that it is a paradise on earth. Lake Havasu City offers numerous activities that will generate curiosity, interest and excitement to people from all walks of life. The features that Lake Havasu City offers relates to the historical, geological, recreational and tourism aspects. These aspects well defines the reasons people always look to Lake Havasu City as a place to travel for the holiday and summer season. Examining the various aspects that make Lake Havasu one of the places to travel with individual visitors hailing from different corners of the globe is essential. The fact aspect under consideration is the historical attraction within Lake Havasu. Preservation of historical sites proves very important in enhancing visitors of a region to witness historical concepts mostly heard on paper. The aspect like in any other regions serves as one of the major contributors of the popularity of Lake Havasu. The famous historical site in Lake Havasu relates to the London Bridge that was known years before establishment of the current developments in the region. Construction of the bridge resulted from a conventional structure clad characterized by its uniqueness through the use of original granite that helps in retaining its antique look. Construction of the bridge was done on a dry piece of land with dredging the land underneath the bridge enhancing in creating a channel of Bridgewater together with the man-made island across the bridge. “The bridge serves as a backdrop to the famous English village that grew up around it with Tudor-style buildings as well as charming shops enhancing in presenting an atmosphere similar to that of the medieval England (Rhoades).” Visitors become astonished upon realizing that the existing London Bridge is the original as opposed to a gimmick. The famous London Bridge has survived significant historic events that have affected the region ensuring the bridge retains its original form. The history of the bridge thus serves as one major aspect that attracts people to the region with other historical sites including the Mojave Desert, Californian Colorado eco-regions as well as the Sonoran Dessert. Shorelines that exist in the transition zone of these three major geographical features also serves as great historical features (Karousos). The next major feature under focus refers to recreational facilities within Lake Havasu that includes a variety of water sports among them fishing, speed boating as well as jet skiing. Water skiing, sailing together with canoeing also makes some of the water sports famous in the region. There also exists accessibility of free public fishing with the Lake Havasu Fisheries Improvement program continuing with the process of enhancing free fishing (Wildfang 49). The program is also involved in funding creation of man-made habitat that will lead to increased game fish population. The fishing conditions are enhanced by deep water that is fringed with covers as well as inlets making the place suitable for various fish among them crappie, catfish and striped bass among others. The place provides almost every form of water-based recreation with various facilities in the region providing boat renting services or water toys for visitors who may fail to possess their own but want to engage in recreational activities. Other that participating, a person may just sit and engage the scenery or take a boat tour through the region. Those in favor of touring the region may also take cars and move over the highway with various roads enhancing connections to connect with specific destinations in the region. Other than historical feature and recreational facilities, Lack Havasu City is equally famous for the geological features found within the region. Among the geological features evidenced in the region refers to granites and marbles. According to Howard, “while majority of visitors are shocked upon realizing that the London Bridge is purely constructed with original granite, they equally become pleased with such a realization.” It is attributed to the image that portrays the strength of the bridge and the water that runs under the bridge. The color of the granite presents beauty and uniqueness that visitors enjoy. Marbles are also present in the region that provides another major contribution of geological features. Another geologic feature is the Mohave Mountains surround the desert region of Lake Havasu City. The Mohave Mountains together Aubrey Hills meet in the lake providing another geological feature that serves as interesting features for individuals visiting the region (Trip Avisor). The Lowlands that provides platform of separating the Mohave Mountains in the south eastern side from bill Williams Mountains also serve as significant geological feature in the region. The discovery of mineral resources in Lake Havasu City also served in increasing the geological features that interest visitors in the region with new features realized in the last geologic mapping conducted 1983. Proterozic as well as Mesozoic rocks that mostly attract geologists interested in studying the rocks (Lake Havasu 67). Surficial deposits are also evidenced across the region with other geologic features existing before the sale of the region. The evidenced features during that period included crystalline rocks as well as structure, variety of dikes, tertiary stratigraphy together with geochronology among others. It is a fact that when it comes to geological features, Lake Havasu City provides a variety of them essential for scholars, tourists and any other individuals. Majority of the geological features present in that region are uniquely placed and finding a combination of all of them in any other region is a challenge. The last interesting feature around Lake Havasu City refers to tourist aspects that most of the other features in the region serve in promoting. Tourism involves visiting such unique scenes and enjoys the period during the visit without disturbance and with the right facilities, security and atmosphere. From sites to scenes to all the other mentioned features, Lake Havasu City ensures availability of everything that a tourist region requires. Supported by the desert condition of the region, the place provides sunny conditions for more than three hundred days in a year (Rhoades). The sparkling shinning sun catches the tourists as they relax in the sandy beaches across the region. Security measures in every tourist destination are a significant contributor to number of tourists visiting a region. Effective measures are enhanced throughout the region both during the day time and night. Again the region comprises of a museum where tourists visit to enhance in learning more about the region that is only depicted through structures without explanations. The museum provides tourists with all the historical information that dates back to the archaic period, new settlers, miners in the region, and dreamers together with developers as well as dam builders among others (Miller 216). The museum therefore servers as an institute to provide tourists with information that may not be evidenced or understood through observation of the physical structures (Lake Havasu Museum). The management of Lake Havasu also provides magnificent tourist services that include tour guides and camping facilities. In conclusion, Lake Havasu City comprises of significant features that makes it serve as a major beauty in the Southwestern American region (McCleery, 147). Through enhancing historical sites, geological, tourists’ aspects as well as recreational facilities, the region remains one of the major destinations that anyone intending to visit places feels good to visit. The region has by far ensured preservation of essential features that make the place unique and benefiting from its vast geographical coverage, various features of interest for visiting individuals are provided.
