Resort/Facilities Management & Maintenance Resort/Facilities Management & Maintenance Being a resort activity coordinator, you needto deal with an array of different task and not just one job, where you sit in front of the desk and pass on the orders. To get to the most slang and informal definition of an activity coordinator, you need to get the party started. Furthermore, since, resort is thought to be of more as a vocational point and relaxation area, the activity coordinator must see to the needs of the vacationers and provide agendas that help them to escape the daily worries. The job description of a resort activity coordinator also includes shaping, executing and scheduling activities/event/parties, control recreational staff, convey projects to resort visitants and oversee and prolong recreational needs. Similar to the role performed by a resort coordinator is the role of facilities management. It is one of the interdisciplinary fields that are staunch to the linkage between infrastructures, firms, space, and people and are usually amalgamated with administration of the office, centers or shopping complexes. Under the frame of this management, comes the responsibility of dealing with safety and health issues, security issues, maintenance, piloting and assessment, space allocation and alteration, business unremitting plan, cleaning, operational strategies and many more. Although the role of the two jobs seems different, people try to define the relationship that exists between the two departments, which is facilities management and resort activity coordinator. Assuming I became a resort activity coordinator, one of the questions that I initially had was how I would relate to the facility department of the resort. One factor that acted as a guideline in answering this question was that the main objective of anyone working at a resort was to look after any customer visiting the area. With this in mind, people working in the two roles need to play side by side to achieve the main goal that of looking after the client. While undertaking the activities planned for a whole day, , it is a must that a resort activity coordinator maintains close and regular contact with the facility department to get the work done. For instance, if an event, a concert or a sports day for the clients at the resort is planned, the resort activity coordinator needs to notify the facility department to inform them about this upcoming event and giving them a detailed account of what will be needed to execute the affair. It is necessary to involve the facilities department on such plans, as it is the one, which considers the space, security and maintenance of the affair. During the actual event organized by the resort activity resort coordinator, the facilities department is tasked to examine the occasion and see that issues regarding security or any health issues, or even the reputation of the resort is not arising (W. Cooper, L. M, et al. 2012). The main reason there needs to exist a relationship between activity coordinator, and the facility department is that the two departments need to come up with operational decisions since events at resorts are conducted on a daily basis. Some of the decisions the two departments make include deciding whether the dinning should be done inside, outside, or nearby the swimming pool or terrace area. They also need to inspect the infrastructure as resorts are sprawled over a large area. The visitors Therefore need to be taken through the appropriate mode of moving along together with good communicating and entertainment means (Alexander, K, et al. 2013). The two departments are tasked in ensuring that visitors get the best possible services while at the resort. Effective and good services offered to clients serve as the basis of marketing that in turn helps in attracting more people to the resort. One factor that is guaranteed with making the relationship between the two departments is having constant and good information. Good and constant communication helps in dealing effectively and swiftly with any problem that may arise in the resort involving the client who needs the best services. For instance, a resort activity coordinator needs to consult with the facilities department if the safety issue arises during any ongoing concert or a tournament. There can also be consultation in the case where a resort coordinator wants to makes some changes regarding things such as infrastructure or cleaning. Similarly, if any problem during any activity, the resort coordinator is tasked with the responsibility of informing the facilities department and requesting to chip in any assistance in order to help deal with that particular problem. The coordination between the two departments needs to exist as it is their duty to solve problems and provide good services to the guests and benefits and good disposition to the owners (Alexander, K, et al. 2013). As a resort activity coordinator, it is helpful to establish the responsibility and importance of facilities management team and its personnel. It is after such an analysis that the resort coordinator realizes how useful it is for the two factions to work together to help drive the resort forward in the same time promoting the interests of the clients. As stated the facilities department is pretty much in control of the resources and planning the resorts exterior as well as assisting in molding the goodwill of the resort, therefore, the resort facility is heavily dependent on the facility management team (Rondeau, E. P et al. 2012). It is imperative for a resort coordinator to have such knowledge as it reduces conflicts between the two departments. The sharing of responsibilities means that the duties to be performed by either department are reduced making it easy for the two to perform their given tasks. Clients want to see a resort that is well organized, and this will make them visit the area many times while at the same time helping market the resort to their friends. It is quite clear that in a resort the provision have those attributes and feature that exhale the aura of relaxing, comfortable, friendly and happiness. With this in mind, the facility management a personnel needs to facilitate the resort in such a way that it promises and gives the feeling that the name stands for. Any individual who has ever visited a resort has this information. At a resort essentially infrastructure, coordination with the workers and clients and satisfying the needs of the guest effectively and efficient is promptly required, along with the unspoken need of keeping the resort reputation intact. People will visit a resort whose reputation is clean and the one that has good reviews from those who have ever visited the place. Once people are satisfied with the services provided at the resort, it is extremely hard for such people to talk ill of the place. It is up to the resort coordinator together with the facility management to work together to provide the resort’s clients with the best accommodation and services by examining the rooms, spaces, alteration that is needed and the enjoyment and comfort giving means. Secondly, they also look over the security angles regarding health as well as physical security by inspecting the security level of the resort. They also help clean the rooms of the whole resort. Moreover, as repeatedly mentioned, the image of the resort itself. Once these angles are covered, the teams is also responsible for carrying out day-to-day responsibility under their job frame and make any changes that are required, concerning one of the above mentioned functions (Rondeau, E. P et al. 2012). In conclusion, a resort coordinator and facilities department have the same role of trying to provide the clients with the best services in order to build a good reputation for the resort. It is evident that one department cannot operate properly without the other one as the operations are dependent on each other. It is the responsibility of those heading the two departments to try to work together in almost every situation. This sees to it that the resort is properly managed and everything is in order hence efficiency is guaranteed for all visitors. Works Cited Alexander, K. (. (2013).
