Travel and Tourism PERSONAL MENT Introduction My is Eva PLEASE WRITE YOUR SUR HERE, and I belong to PLEASE WRITE THE OF YOUR COUNTRY HERE. Having qualified as a PLEASE WRITE YOUR EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS HERE, I wish to fulfill my dream of joining the airlines as a member of the cabin crew. It is of prime importance to me to connect with my unique purpose in life, and I look forward to deriving profound satisfaction from achieving my career goals. I believe in the words of the famous philosopher Thoreau (1854: xl) who stated that “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours”.
The following personal statement will justify why I consider myself suitable for a cabin crew position. Discussion More than the level of intelligence as indicated by the intelligence quotient (IQ), it is the emotional quotient or EQ which is important for all individuals. This is particularly true for those in high-risk jobs such as in the airlines industry or healthcare services where emergency situations can arise unexpectedly. Being emotionally sound arises from my strong roots in religion and faith in the guidance of a higher Power.
Besides emotional strength and maturity of thought and behaviour, personal traits that I strive to acquire include loyalty to one’s profession, colleagues, family and friends. Equally important characteristics are: open-mindedness, respect for people, and lack of discrimination on any basis. Similarly, a non-critical attitude, ability to deal with unexpected problems, willingness to accept responsibility and a sense of accountability for one’s actions are essential particularly for a member of the cabin crew, whose daily work involves dealing with unexpected situations and unpredictable passengers.
For every person, happiness is the ultimate goal, and there are several sources and means to attain it. In this connection, I consider progress to be very important in all fields of life: personally, professionally and as a member of society. Personal progress comes from spiritual growth, healthy living, fulfilling one’s role as a member of one’s family, as well as improving one’s financial strength. Professional progress would be from perseverence in the acquiring of knowledge, continued learning of new skill sets, and implementing relevant knowledge in carrying out one’s duties optimally as a member of the cabin crew.
Supporting the progress of society would involve participating in community activities that promote the well-being of its members individually and as a whole group. All the avenues of progress lead to a sense of accomplishment and happiness, but it should not be achieved at the expense of others. I believe that irrespective of circumstances it is crucial to stay positive, since one’s thought-life has a powerful effect on one’s life. Having an enthusiastic, warm and devoted approach to people, shows clear evidence of one’s consideration towards them.
Thus, the ancient Iranian prophet and philosopher Zoraster’s words “Doing good to others is not a duty. It is a joy, for it increases your own health and happiness” (Zubko 2000: 200) has powerful meaning for me. Above all, I believe in staying connected with God for guiding me through life’s ups and downs. Hence, I take sustenance from my conviction that God is working in my life, and He wants good things to happen for me. Thus, achieving a well-rounded and cheerful personality, is of prime importance to me.
Conclusion As a member of the cabin crew, I will be able to accomplish my personal mission in life. Reflecting on the core values and beliefs that have grown with me over the years, I consider them to be in alignment with the professional work that I am trained to undertake. As a caring and compassionate person, I look forward to doing my routine work to the best of my ability, and being of help in times of emergency or distress among the passengers or the crew members. Offering assistance to elderly people and children would be my priority, and I would do everything to help all individuals without any discrimination.
Further, empowering others to help themselves promotes their sense of independence and self-confidence, important for their own development. I wish to fufill my goal of working for a progressive employer using my values, skill-sets, knowledge and talent for the benefit of the organization. References Thoreau, H.D. (1854).
