Images of Organization al Affiliation) Organizations as organisms In order to drive the point home, it is advisable that an organization be deemed as a living unit. It is very crucial that an organization’s management is geared towards meeting the needs of the organization as a whole and the connection that an organization shares with its environment. This type of illustration clearly differs from organizations that are bureaucratic in nature and it has been noted that their stark differences are applicable to one another in terms of their abilities to meet their varying demands. According to Strüver, by alluding to the organization as a living unit, it enables for a comprehensive analysis of the environment’s organization and enables one to understand the steps that an organization undertakes as a living unit-from its inception, growth, development, decline and its inevitable demise. By doing so, a person begins to figure out the interconnectivity between varying types of organizations, their consequent evolution patterns and as a result, an ecological pattern can be established (Strüver, 2007). Organizations as Brains Symbolically, the allusion of organizations as brains allows people to conceptualize organizations in terms of its design. The concept of the organization as a brain can therefore be used to imply to, learning, intelligence, wit, the processing of information and systems of information. The symbolism enables one to develop a conceptual framework, which is reliant on evaluating and understanding the current organizations in terms of the features described above. Additionally, the allusion provides principles that can be used in forming better quality designs for the organization. It should be noted that, the design places emphasizes on the importance of an organization that is self-sufficient coupled with high levels of innovation and flexibility. Strüver implies that, the allusion of organizations as a brain, has been more animated in recent times due to the emergence of the internet and other forms of IT that enhance a perpetual environment and instant networking on a global front (Strüver, 2007). Organizations as Political Systems By viewing organizations as political systems, it enables people to conceptualize a mental image of organizations in terms of a group of varying acts of power, interests and conflicts that are molded into more different kinds of activities and events with regards to the organization. Morgan suggests that, the resultant mental picture formed, assists people in exploring the organization and imagining it as an administrative system which is founded on the principles of varying political ideologies geared towards creating and legitimizing different criteria for the development of regulations and rules to govern the activities of the organization. It is also evident that, a number of factors when keenly observed, portray the life of an organization in terms of politics (Morgan, 1986). Organizations as Psychic Prisons This conceptualization can be achieved thorough relying on the work of Plato with reference to Plato’s cave. The mental picture of organizations as psychic prisons is expressive of an organization’s feature that is more abstract in nature. This allusion portrays organizations as a destination where its members (employees) are more inclined to recline into deep thought and other set of beliefs. Simply, the members fall into hypothetical traps. It should be noted that these traps are due to anxiety, fears, and stress by the members of the organization derived from their subconscious mind. Analysts suggest that types of human behavior, which are enhanced by a controlled subconscious, are to be considered as either a type of desire by the employees to avoid situations that trigger anxious reactions, or as a form of sexual repression, which implies that organizational management is developed to cater for the protection of human beings in the organizational context where they are employees. By adopting the school of thought regarding organizations as psychic caves, it is seen as being similar to the ideology that human beings are confined to their ideologies which alienates them from their lives. This form of conceptualization has been found to be far more complicated than other forms. However, it provides another angle that is not present in other conceptualizations such as, facilitating observers to critically analyze life in organization and try to prove whether the assumptions propagated by the theory of psychic prisons are true. In case after analysis, the conceptualization suggests that there is indeed truth in the assumptions that employees are more inclined to recline to their psychological traps offset by anxiety, stress and fears resulting from both conscious and unconscious processes, then it can be an indication of a person’s deeper understanding and knowledge of the organization. Such analysis is very useful especially in determining the features of many patterns in the organization context and in understanding the relevance associated with the dynamics of the human mind. Organizations as Transformation and Flux The allusion of organizations as flux and transformation, gives credence to the fact that organizations are undeniable. It is necessary for a person to be conversant with reason and logic associated with redefining the shape of societal life, in order to be able to comprehend the perspective of an organization in terms of flux and transformation. The conceptualization of the organization in such a manner is aided by three varying logics. The first logic places emphasis and focus in the examination of the organization in terms of a system of production that develops and molds itself in the shape it wants to attain. The other logic places stress on analyzing the process that an organization has used in its creation due to negative and positive feedback resulting from the flowing cycle. The third logic on the other hand, implies that an organization is the by-product of logic as a result of dialogue, because it is a place that phenomena are more inclined towards being the causes of differing effects. A deeper understanding of the ideas proposed in the three logics aids in the understanding of forces that determine and influence the nature and shape that an organization assumes at a sociological context. Additionally, there have been suggestions that chaos plays a big role in giving explanations regarding the unpredictable nature associated with changes in an organization. Organizations as Instruments of Domination The allusion of organizations in this text, provides major features of the organizational potential division site (PDS).The resultant point of view, allows one to understand the mechanisms an organization employs when it is hiring employees, taking advantage of them in terms of their talent and skills and how the organization discards their employees when they no longer offer anything substantial towards the growth of the organization by firing them. According to Morgan, the mental picture formed shows how at the micro level, national organizations meet their objectives and goals via the global economy and how multinational companies take advantage of the communities located in areas where they are exploiting. The allusion also implies that, organizations are hard wired to exploit others in their pursuit of success through exploitation and dominance over their rival organizations and everyone in general (Morgan, 1986). Through analyzing organizations in terms of their domineering power, it enables one to comprehend the make-up of the current organizations, which is linked with its management of labour in a violent manner. This mental picture of organizations as being ruthless and dominant enables a person to understand the point of view of exploited labour groups that advocate for better working conditions and in so doing facilitate the formation of reasonable discourse while still analyzing facts from the point of view of the organization.
