Summary The article “Tories chastised for lack of racial diversity in judicial appointments” by Shawn Fine explains about the discrimination in the appointment of judges in Canada. It was seen that only four non – white people were appointed as Judges which relates to the lack of equality in the system. The main issue in the article is the racism and sexism shown by the Canadian government while appointing people of higher authority. Racism or sexism can be understood that biased judgement on the basis of color, race or gender.

The article demands that more diversity should be exhibited while selecting judges in the country which gives rights to Aborigines and women.The module describes the importance of equality and diversity in a work force environment. A country need to include people from many diverse ethnicities in work force to inculcate national values. Aborigines, women, disable people all should be part of the workforce so that no one feel neglected or discriminated. There should not be stereotypical attitude when it comes to employment procedures.

People from different background have different values and learning experience which need to be utilized by the organisation to ensure flexibility and success.1. What is the reason for discrimination at workplace?It is due to the thinking that whites are superior to other races2. Why women are given less opportunity in high authority positions?There is a universal thinking that women are poor at decision making and are not strong – willed3. Why diversity at work place is important?Diversity is important because it bring s values ad learning experiences of versatility to work environment.
