The choice of entrepreneur was deliberate as the entrepreneur represented the category of ‘ethnic entrepreneur’. Moreover, the success of CalBox showed that one could learn a lot from the entrepreneur about starting business in US as a foreigner. Yong Soo Jung is the young President of start-up company, CalBox which is into shipping. He interview with the entrepreneur was conducted in two phases. First time neutral place of Korean restaurant was selected so both of us could relax and enjoy Korean food while talking.

The second venue was his office at San Francisco so that I could observe how he works. Yong Jung is a second generation Korean American who had got his citizenship by virtue of his birth in America. He was raised in Korea and completed his military service for dual citizenship. He had shifted to America after doing High School and pursued higher studies, opting for Business Administration Major but finally focusing on Entrepreneurship. Though he had wanted to pursue Business administration as it considerably enhances the job prospects but entrepreneurship classes motivated him to start his own business.

His role model was Frederick W. Smith, the founder of FedEx whose leadership initiatives helped him to overcome the challenges of monopolistic market and establish his shipping business. The entrepreneur had started his business while studying business administration along with his class friend, Kevin. He believed that ‘real worlds are really different from what we learn in school’ Language was the major barrier that he overcame by joining language school in San Francisco for six month before starting college.

He also focused more on speaking English than writing so that he could communicate effectively with people. He came from business background and saw huge opportunity in the shipping area. The two initial partners both contributed $15,000 each for the purchase
