Download file to see previous pages Mills defines sociological imagination as the insights that a person gains regarding the relationship that exists between the society and experience that a person encounters. In my own understanding, sociological imagination entails employing imagination and thinking to sociological questions, which may be troubling an individual, entity, or the entire society. In my opinion, every human being has the capacity and ability to develop sociological imagination. This is because the interpretation of reality tends to differ from one human being to another (Ritzer 4).
Sociologically, my culture can be defined based on a number of sociological aspects, which can be said to accompany the culture. My culture comprises of beliefs, morals, values, as well as traditions, and rituals. In my culture, there tends to be norms of acceptable behaviour, which determine how members of my ethnic group and the entire society behave. My ethnic background has affected my sociological imagination in a number of ways. For instance, my sociological imagination has influenced my view of other cultures, as well as how I view people from other ethnic backgrounds. My interpretation of beliefs from other culture has also been based on my sociological imagination. My traditions have also been influential in determining how I interpret my own culture.
Troubles can be regarded as problems that exist within human beings and they tend to influence the thought patterns within the human body. On the other hand, issues refer to problems that occur outside an individual. One of current social concerns that can be evaluated on the basis of sociological imagination encompasses affirmative action. With regard to my own sociological imagination, affirmative action should be employed in order to ensure that all genders have equal opportunities of gaining enrolment in various issues.
