An Approach to Ethics for the Administrative Role by Terry L. Cooper - Article Example

This article is based on the roles that the community service sector plays and how difficult it is to make important by difficult decisions. This article discusses the challenges that administrators in the social sector face due to their nature. A good example is an administrator in a community-minded organization that also offers counseling services to low-income citizens suffering from mental health emergencies and chronic mental illness and is very much exposed to facing conflicts. The administrator, for example, was once faced with a hard administrative decision to make. Being in public service is not an easy task. However, it is important that the office gives the community the best services possible while observing the consequences of his decision. In this regard, this article has brought up in clear details the expectations that the public has of their leaders.

As a public administrator both the book and the article have taught me that decisions must be made no matter how hard they seem. Conversely, when making these hard decision ethics and values must be put into play. Therefore, as expected from the two readings I will make the best decision despite the consequences so long as it is for the benefit of the public.
