A patriot according to Pellerin (2006) considers all people to be equal and is also able to tolerate critics and learn from it. A nationalist on the other hand considers people belonging to a country to be unequal and can never tolerate any criticism.
Patriotism in Canada is very weak. The country is more biased toward nationalism. Canadians can never accept to be mistaken for an American when abroad unlike their counterparts who never mind being mistaken for them. They would love to be considered superior to Americans in whatever they do. Pellerin (2006) argues that Canadians prefer to take strong beer as compared to the weak beer taken by the Americans.
