12. Human Growth and Development Erik Erickson’s Growth and Development Theoryemphasized that attaining a healthygrowth on personality depends on how an individual face every stages which has corresponding crisis to solve to go beyond the next stage. Older populations are classified in the middle adulthood stage and belong to Generativity vs. Stagnation. In this stage, the individual intends to be productive to make a contribution to the society, however, the individual may experience lack of growth, boredom and over concern with oneself if they unsuccessfully pass the crisis stage (Beckett&Hilary, 159).

Older populations possess negative images and sometimes characterized as an unsustainable burden to the public (Beckett&Hilary, 187). Issuance of driver’s license needs to accomplish certain test to verify if the person is qualified to get a driver’s license. Alertness is necessary while driving and this is the dilemma of other people who believe that older people decreases their mental alertness they grow old. Avoiding car accidents is the main concern of those against the issuance of driver’s license to the older populations.

In addition, thoseagainst the issuance of driver’s license to the older populations believe that it will lessen traffic formation once this plan is implemented. Meanwhile, the most feared complication of limiting the issuance of driver’s license to the older populations is not finding meaning and worthiness of one’s life in society. In line with this, older people must still be given the chance to have a meaningful work in their life by explaining the rationale for the limitation of driver’s license and diverting older people’s attention to a more productive and meaningful activity.

Older population should not be stigmatized for their limitation and abilities.Enforcing older people that every step of life encountered was still a great contribution to society. Allowing them to be part of the society despite proposal for limitations of issuance of driver’s licensewill make older people feel worthy and self-fulfilledleading to successful achievement of the developmental stage.Work CitedBeckett, Chris&Taylor, Hilary.
