Extract of sample "Reasons to Appreciate the Family"

I am the eldest child in the family and my baby brother is only 17 years old. I believe that every child should appreciate his or her parents for a lot of reasons. My parent's love had brought me here in this world to enjoy life’s pleasures. I know that I can never fully grasp all the toils my mother went through when she carried me in her womb much less the pain that she felt when she finally pushed me out to life. I need not mention all the nights she stayed up late to take care of me and feed me.

She is my best friend and confidante as no one knows all my inner thoughts and emotions. I don’t know what’s in her but she can easily make me open my heart to her and let her know what’s inside it. My mom is really exceptional and I admire her so much for her love and courage.Dads are always portrayed as tough, unmovable, and firm yet you’ll be surprised to know that my Dad is different. Though he is tough and unmovable, he made me realized the benefits of his character.

His toughness refrains me from being careless in making decisions and encourages me to be strong. I should also mention that amidst my dad’s firmness, he has a soft heart which enables him to understand my limitations and failures. I enjoyed talking to my dad so much and be delighted by his great sense of humor. As the eldest child, I am always expected to be responsible for my younger brother, Rodrigo. When we were younger, Rodrigo and I enjoyed playing together but as we grew older the differences between us begin to surface and we begin to have arguments about a lot of things.

However, I still appreciate my brother because as a young man he is always protective of me. Even though he appears to be rude and be a prank at times, he still shows me he cares for me by doing little sweet things like helping me carry my things. I know that no matter what happens, he will always be that little boy with whom I enjoyed playing and watching television.I know that this paper can never really portray the goodness I found in having a family like mine. Even a thousand pages cannot contain all the things that I appreciate about them.

I am truly grateful to have my family. Though our relationship is not perfect at times, I know that struggles only strengthen us and bind us more together. For all the things they’ve done, for all that, they’d be, and what they’d be, I know I’ll still appreciate them.
