Therefore socialization is the main function of a modern family and this is what has often driven the modern family to have generosity and innovation whereby parents do anything possible to enable their children grow and move out of the family in order to paddle their own canoe (Dagenais, 2008, p. 5). Giddens states that modernity can be equivalent to a world that is industrialized and not only on institutional dimension but the social relation which is implied in the use of material power and machinery during production processes. This is an institutional axis of modernity and its second element is capitalism which is a structure used in producing commodities which involves competitive markets and commodifying labor power. These can be distinguished from institutions of surveillance and the basis for increased organization power is associated to the emergence of modern social life. Surveillance refers to the various administrative controls of subject populations and this might take the method of visible administration or using information available to coordinate various social activities (Giddens, 1991, p. 15). The main aim of socializing is for the child to have self-awareness, this enables the child see himself as called upon to grow and shape him, grasp and assume all the pedagogical processes that the child has been subjected. During this relationship, the parents are closely knit to the child; the child will be viewed to be coming from another lineage hence he is an immediate issue of amorous conjugal relationship that exists between the parents. In addition to this, the educational relationship aspects of constant watchfulness and an explicit objectifying of underlying reason for concern are greatly linked to parental roles. The mother nurtures the child and in doing so, her motherly tasks are abstracted from womanly tasks; on the contrary, the father acts as a reminder of why all this processes has been done (Dagenais, 2008, p. 5). When compared to bringing up of a woman, her attachment to her husband facilitates her independence; this is how a woman sees things. The first relationship with an independent man is the first really independent action taken and many other things will follow and the act of autonomy was one presuming material independence. Most women never think of themselves as never being married and thus were determined to have a life as parochial as a mother (Giddens, 1992, p. 54). According to Dagenais, it is the Universalist ideal that is responsible for creating privatization of life and there is a clear dialect that connects private and public spheres in an inseparable manner. The private sphere is as a result of the social control that is made possible erosion of traditional society, its development took place the same time new world order was a universal identity. It created room for an elevated perspective where without it, there would be no existence of private sphere; and individual’s awareness of being someone ordinary and build a common world, self-awareness becomes mutual, supportive, contemporaneous and inseparable. Each individual in a relationship need time in order to realize her selfhood or his selfhood (Dagenais, 2008, p. 6). According to Giddens, intimacy has democracy and its presence secures free and equal relations between individuals in order to promote outcomes that include ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
