The Modern American Family The modern Family The event in the play allows the reader to pick this topic, since in the modern society there are cartels that deal with money laundering and drug trafficking. The involvement of the FBI is also seen as a current trend. We chose characters keenly so that they fit appropriately in their respective roles. For the play to appear like in a modern family setting we dress each character in trendy clothing and provide modern furniture to Mrs. Smith house including items like cash counting machines, computers, and other office equipments typically found in a modern society. We also decide on the topic "Modern family "since the events unfolding in the play are exactly what are ailing the modern society with now women now engaging in crimes that were once thought to be a prerogative of men, We learn that Mrs. Smith is a drug trafficker and money launder crimes which she refuses to be engaging in. I am personally given the role of one of the FBI agent a part that comes to play almost at the end of the play. It was an awesome experience being part of the actors, as I have to assist and help others in bringing out their roles and painting out a genuine picture of the unfolding events. My contribution to the play is further stipulated when I get to choose the attire that suits each individual appropriately, example I get to help in dressing Mrs. Smith as a high-end woman who is very wealthy and gifted in fashion look that complements her role in the play. I also felt that my other FBI partner ought to have been a female since this is the trend in modern police department in America. All in all the play came out just as we had anticipated, everything came out perfectly well as we had rehearsed. Next time I want to be giving a more involving role that will dominate most of the play. Cloud nine Play review The first act is produced in British colonial Africa and tends to examine the atrocities committed by the colonialists. Clive an administrator for the colonial government lives in his home with, Betty his wife, son Edward, daughter Victor, Maud his mother in law, Ellen the governess and a servant, Joshua. Clive is home after returning from a dispute resolution among the local population. Clive later learnt that Joshua has rather been rude to his wife for which he scold him. Later on the family generously welcomes Harry Bagley and Mrs. Sanders, who is a widow, who is tired and exhausted and seeking refuge from the local natives. Harry is seen making passionate moves towards Betty, and unearthing their feelings for one other. Later, Harry asks for intimacy with Joshua. Clive throws Mrs. Sanders from the house and after a moment of argument, conducts sex orally to her. To hide their suspicion they later join the entire family for a Christmas picnic. We then learnt that Edward and Harry come out to reveal their sexual orientation. Edward is adamant to revive his relationship with Harry. As these events unfold, Ellen openly declares her feelings for Betty, who is very much attracted to Harry. Later, Clive together with other men invades the natives while women remain and wait inside the house. Mrs Sanders in disapproval goes to find out what it is these men are doing. On Clive's arrival back home, he lets Betty knows his smite for Harry. He scolds her and later then forgives her. To put Harry's lesbian belief to an end, Clive tries to make him marry Mrs. Sanders, but she refuses. There is news that Joshua's parents have been murdered by the British soldiers, this gets Clive worried for a short time, as he condole with Joshua. Clive later forces a marriage between Harry and Hellen, which is accompanied by a wedding celebration. As Clive is about to toast to the newly wed, Joshua points a gun at him of which Edward had seen but did not give him a warning. Act II events are almost similar to Act I. It is set some one hundred years ahead in London, England. Initially, Victoria is seen in a London park on a chilly winter afternoon with Lin and his daughter Cathy. He later lets Victoria know that Cathy is a lesbian. She then asks to go to a movie with her. Betty is having a chat with Edward that she is planning to leave Clive. In spring, Gerry, who is Edward's lover comes to the park where they have an argument about Gerry showing no commitment. Sometimes ahead, Cathy and Lin get into a fight and consequently they lose track of Timothy, Victoria's son. A short-lived panic engulfs them, but they later trace him. Edward and Garry then end their relationship. Later one summer night, Victoria, Lin and Edward are in the park for a ceremony for a sex goddess. Afterwards, Lin's dead brother show up and matches the experience that he got when was at the army. After her brother disappears, she collapses. In late summer, Edward, Lin, and Victoria are staying together. Betty is getting her satisfaction from masturbation. Edward and Gerry settle their differences and are staying together, On his way to buy ice cream, the Dead Hand Gang attacks Cathy and causes bleeding from her nose. Twilight Los Angeles The play starts with a monologue from Rudy Salas, Sr., who is a painter and a sculptor, who narrates the story of how his grandfather hated gringos because he had once fought them in Chihuahua. His dislike for American whites' starts when he wasn't admitted to first grade and white teachers let him know that he was inferior because he was a Mexican. In 1942, he was brutally assaulted by police and became nearly deaf as a consequence. Since that period, he has had a profound contempt within him. He continually says that he dislikes the whites, but he distances himself from being a racist. He has white friends even though in his perspective they are not whites, although they are his enemies. The first part of the play starts with an discussion with a Los Angeles police commission president, he points out that the police are the victims of the city abuse. In the preceding monologue, Micheal Zinzun, who's a represents the Coalition Against Police Abuse narrates his personal experience with cops brutality. Other natives are and once gang members are interrogated and narrate of the escalating tension and violence in the city of Los Angeles. Angela king, whose Rodney Kling's aunt tells of a few memories from his nephew. She becomes very disturbed and wants justice to prevail, she gives an example that if it was the president of the united states who had been manhandled them almost the entire population that have been enraged but since a "nobody "was assaulted the people didn't care. She says the police showed no sympathy or remorse during the trial, and they made Rodney appear as a villain so that he be discredited. An eye witness to the police brutality who was interviewed was never summoned to testify. They only played video crabs of the assault. A juror in the case who was interrogated said that the KKK was in support of the jury. A couple of citizens and traders narrate of how Korean owned retail shops were torched and vandalized in the spate of the Rodney King final Verdict. The Korean nationals insist it was the black Americans who torched and vandalized their shops. On the other hand, the blacks placed counter accusations on the Mexicans for the vandalism and lootings. A Korean store owner is shot during the vandalism and has experienced brain damage. His step-son and wife are interrogated, and they are bitter and perplexed about why he was shot. A witness by the name Chris Oh alleges it was an African-American who pulled the trigger on Park at point blank. Maxine Waters, an African-American is perplexed the way white House was responding to the insurrection. She says that the "riot of the unheard" Bill Bradley, a senator from New Jersey narrates a story of his African-American friend pursuing a law internship in Los Angeles. At some day during a routine drive with a fellow intern, the intern in the car next to him was a white woman the police pulled the man out and charged him with allegedly holding the white woman against her will. They put handcuffs on him and pushed him on the ground.An a lawyer for one of the officers mentions he didn't want to take on the case since he firmly believed it was a racial attack, and that his son had been involved once in a racial matter. He still doubts what truth is and if the general society wanted just the cops to be found guilty to save its soul. The last monologue is by Twilight Bey, who's an organizer of the gang truce. He is named Twilight because as a young man he stayed out until the sun came up every morning to protect his neighborhood. Carmen Play review Don José is a handsome cavalryman from Navarre. He is from a family that has a good background, he has high chances of being very fast promoted and making his name as a soldier. A moment after arriving at his post in Seville, he happens to meet a lovely, intelligent young Gypsy by the name Carmen. Don José falls in love like any other man with Carmen at and allows her to escape after she was taken to holding for attacking another worker with a dagger in a cigar factory. One specific night, she convinces him to leave his position and elope with her. He is punished by being ordered to work as a sentry. When she goes to him again, and tries to persuade him to come with her, he is reluctant. They engaged in an argument for more than an hour, until Don José, overwhelmed by his struggle between anger and love, gives in to her. Whenthey later become lovers, she starts making fun of him. Carmen is a rebellious, independent and tormenting lady. The more she keeps changing her feelings about Don José, the more madly Don José loves her. One night, they agreed to a rendezvous company with Carmen, and he goes to her house. While they are enjoying each other's moment, a lieutenant who is also Carmen's lover enters. He and Don José get into an altercation t and swords are drawn. In a confrontation, Don José maims and kills the lieutenant after suffering a head wound himself. Carmen, who the whole time remained mute in the room, comes out after the confrontation and accuses Don José of being stupid. She runs out and comes back a few minutes later with a cloak, and gives it to Don José to wear, for he will be a an with haunted feelings. Don José's is optimistic for a superb career ahead are shot down as a result of this consequential action. The romantic relationship with this woman makes him commit murder, and he is a man who is doomed to continue living a life of misery with a woman who is a thief and a pickpocket Carmen has many allies and acquaintances who are outlaws just like her. Because Don José has no other option in the issue, he gives in to go with her and become members of a small gang of robbers and thugs for whom Carmen is spying for. By that time, the price is put on Don José's head. He and Carmen set out and finally find the robbers. For a long duration of time, Don José stays with these new people, he seem to enjoy his lawless life with enthusiasm that he started suffering from jealousy as Carmen exploited her beauty and attractions to increase the gangs wealth. He later came to find out that Carmen was also engaged, after her husband become part of the gang, and José initiated a fight with Carmen husband and killed him and later took Carmen as his wife. Carmen love for Don José was dwindling, and she told him this, she was falling for another young successful man by the name of Lucas. Carmen through her omens firmly believed that Don José, who was guided by fate, will one day kill her and for this she despises herself for falling for him and swore never to abide by Don Jose wishes. Don José later stubs Carmen, who succumbs to the wounds and then turns himself in. Don José shifts the blame to Romani and blames them for how they raised her. Work Cited Read More
