However, the impact of colonization was drastic during the mentioned period as well as even after the independence of the colonized lands. The three major impacts of colonization by the Europeans on the world are discussed below: Colonization and Its Impact on the Native Culture With the discovery of new lands, the Europeans realized that they not the only people on the new land but they also found other survivors or the natives’ on the land. This led to the mass killing and dominance of innocent native people.

The impact of the European culture on the native culture was learnt to be catastrophic. When the European explored the new land they found that the native people had different culture and religions. Consequently, the European tortured the natives to eradicate the native cultures and imposed European norms and values outside of Europe so as to spread Christianity (Omotosho, 1998). Majority of the native people were compelled and blackmailed to change their religions; few of the natives who opposed such acts were brutally killed while other people changed their religion because of the fear of getting killed.

The traditional values, norms and beliefs of the natives were violently destroyed. The cultural imperialism introduced by the European distorted the normal societies along with dominating the native people in all aspects of their social, cultural, economic, political and religious status (Arowolo, 2010). Colonization and Poverty One of the major reasons behind the poverty of large number of African-Asian nations then and now is owing to the colonization by the European which was encountered by these nations in their past.

The European visited these nations either as explorers or traders. However, they craftily managed to establish their rule in the host nations. The natives were made slaves and were forced to work for the benefits of the European. Furthermore, they robbed the wealth of the host country unprecedentedly (Bawa, 1992). The native people were compelled to work increasingly more with less or no rewards for their exertions. Conversely, soon after the Europeans introduced some infrastructural developments, not with an intention to bring social reform but just to exploit the wealth in large quantities.

They transported huge quantities of raw materials through trains and ships to their own country. The European implemented numerous laws in the host country which were all intended to exploit the wealth of the particular land. As a result of using up the wealth in large quantities by the European, numerous African and Asian countries witnessed severe famines which destroyed thousands of lives. Racial and Ethnic Disparities The process of colonization triggered racism and racial discrimination among the people belonging to different races, particularly the colored and the white people.

Although the colonization process does not exist presently but its impacts still prevail among many of the African-Asian countries in the form of racial and ethnic clashes (UNO, 2001). The colonists treated the colored people as inferior and tortured them severely to employ them for their benefits. The white people or the European dominated the colored people intensely and made them work as slaves in their own land just as animals. Consequently, it can be stated that colonization restricted the legacy of the native colored people.

The European prohibited
