Nowadays, managing diversity at workplace has become an important aspect for most of the organizations (Green, Lopez, Wysocki, & Kepner, 2012). The main objective of the paper is to describe diversity at workplace with the help of three sociological theories namely functionalism, conflict theory and interactionism. Diversity Training At Workplace Diversity training at various workplaces is utmost important because the training brings mutual faith, respect and belief among the employees working in an organization.

The laborers working at various American organizations declared that with the help of diversity training it has brought immense positive changes in their working scenario. Diversity training has helped to draw out employees’ unique qualities and those qualities are observed closely. The different qualities of various employees facilitate an organization to remain focused towards the organizational goals and objectives as the employees are the key components in an organization’s endeavor to attain sustainability.

Diversity training reduces human differences and brings a climate of healthy competition within the organization. In today’s scenario, diversity training includes learning about the political and the religious differences that are taking place at various organizations. Moreover, the training emphasizes more on honest, healthy and the day-to-day practical experiences. For any organization, along with the diversity training module, the person who is conducting the training is also equally important.

Trainers are required to be highly skilled as experience facilitates in the healthy flow of knowledge among the trainees. The trainer must be able to resolve any conflicting situation occurring in the session as various topics related to diversity may lead to unhealthy conversation among the employees (PACT Training, 2006). The need for diversity training came into being due to more of women engaging themselves into workforce. Today’s women are working more in organization due to families demanding more of dual income and the increasing trend of mothers who are single.

Therefore, managing diversity at this present employment scenario is very much important as there is a lot of gender inequality taking place at various organizations (Green, Lopez, Wysocki, & Kepner, 2012). There is a fine linkage between employee protection and employee harassment but the linkage is not been clearly defined by any of the organization. Therefore, in order to define the linkage more clearly there is a need for managing diversity at workplace. Managing diversity will make the concept i.e. employee protection and employee harassment more clear among the various workforces of the organization.

The concept of managing diversity at workplace came into being largely because of the consequences coming from women and people with various skin colors who are employees at various organizations. With the help of managing diversity, it has been made clear to employees working at various organizations that diversity is at par for each and every employee (The Human Rights Campaign, 2012; UCSF Human Resources, n.d.).
