This study seeks ways of improving safety in the buildings and increasing the effectiveness of the emergency response procedures as well as predicting possible human behaviors in fire emergency situations. There are a number of methods that have been used to make this prediction, however, most have not been scientifically analyzed, thus their suitability for any particular fire situation is unfamiliar. This dissertation describes an analysis of human behavior in selected fire disasters.Aims and ObjectivesThe purpose of this research study is to;Analyze both human individual and social behaviors exhibit by people under fire emergency situationsDiscuss some findings on human behaviors in real-life case studies that should be useful when designing fire-safe buildings and other structuresTo progress on new approaches in studying both evacuation and occupants behaviors under diverse environment and scenariosGive conclusion and recommendation on the result arrive at concerning human behaviorResearch MethodologyThe main adjective of this dissertation is to analyze both human individual and social behaviors exhibit by people under fire emergency situations.

In order to achieve this objective, a comprehensive literature review concerning human psychology, sociology, fire and safety engineering, as well as egress design is carried out on a number of real fire case scenarios. The dissertation is aimed at bringing in the aspect of both sociological and psychological perspectives of human behavior into the perspective of building design and fire evacuation procedures thus resulting in the creation of a theoretical framework. These factors can be appreciated, formalized, and eventually incorporating in the process of developing computational models.

Summary of Dissertation (chapter summaries)This paper has given an outline of the topic covered in the dissertation by introducing the human behaviors and case studies used in predicting human behavior. The aims and objectives of the dissertation have been described. The structure of the case studies and the literature within the dissertation has been presented as a research overview that gives the reader a better flow and understanding.
