Only in recent years this topic has become more than relevant, because statistics which show negative effects of tobacco are extremely sad worldwide. Mankind has had dozens of years to make sure that the fight against smoking, or, at least, dealing with excessive smoking is much more difficult than it might seem at first glance. The tobacco smoke contains about 4000 different chemical substances and compounds and almost 60 of them cause cancer. Cigarette smoke is made up of gaseous components and particulate matter. Gaseous components of tobacco smoke are carbon monoxide and dioxide, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, isoprene, acetaldehyde, acrolein, nitrobenzene, acetone, hydrogen sulfide, hydrocyanic acid and other substances (Harms of Smoking and Health Benefits of Quitting, 2011). In addition to various carcinogens tobacco smoke contains various substances, which, according to observations of epidemiological studies, are an important factor in the etiology of cancer of the esophagus, pancreas, renal pelvis and bladder. In addition, it is assumed that the polonium-210 is a possible contributing factor to the increased risk of lung cancer of cigarette smokers, as well as tobacco smoke with aromatic amines is associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer (Smoking and Cancer, 2014). Men who smoke have greater risk of developing erectile dysfunction. Each cigarette causes a decrease in erection, and the effect is observed immediately and accumulates over time. Mechanism of impotence on the basis of smoking is quite simple and understandable to anyone; it is not necessary to be a doctor. Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide, which disrupts the normal delivery of oxygen in the human body. In turn, the lack of oxygen leads to the development of vascular lesions and occlusion. On the basis of this evolving oxygen the starvation of tissues of the penis takes place. On the walls of blood vessels begin to appear atherosclerotic plaques, which leads to clogging of fine blood vessels located in the tissues of the penis. All this leads to the fact that blood flow to the genitals starts to be significantly reduced, and the erectile dysfunction develops. Particularly strong, as the statistics show, this is spread among hypertensive patients – among men with high blood pressure (Smoking - effects on your body, 2014). Still the most dangerous impact smoking has on pregnant women. Numerous studies on this subject have shown that women smokers have several times higher risk of miscarriages and birth of dead children. Nicotine, which is found in breast milk of smoking women, nursing her baby, has a negative impact on the child, making him restless, and significantly reduces the sleeping time of the baby. Even in adulthood of such child he or she would have a greater risk of suffering from overweight and diabetes (Smoking - effects on your body, 2014). However, it is rather difficult to stop smoking. Cigarettes contain nicotine which is considered to be a drug that causes addiction, making smoker continue to smoke and intake more harmful chemicals. Its impact on human body is similar to one which heroine and cocaine have, and it is being absorbed into human’s bloodstream almost immediately after inhaling, causing crucial consequences. Nicotine is one of the most potent poisons, and has an impact on virtually all human organs. If you enter a dose of nicotine, which is contained in just one cigarette, directly into the blood, it may cause death (Health Effects of Cigarette Smoking, 2014). It is also very dangerous to be second-hand smoker, especially for children. Secondhand smoking means breathing ambient air containing in it smoking tobacco products by other people, usually indoors. Scientific studies show that passive smoking increases the risk of diseases, disabilities and deaths. Secondhand smoking causes approximately 3,000 lung cancer deaths per year in nonsmokers. Non-smokers, while among smokers, have a 20% higher risk of cancer than smokers themselves. This is because the composition of the smoke inhaled by a smoker is different from the chemical composition of the glow smoke produced between puffs. This luminous smoke contains more toxic substances. Therefore, a passive smoker while being among smoking people makes inevitable harm to own health (Harms of Smoking and Health Benefits of Quitting, 2011). Studies have shown that secondhand smoke increases the risk of heart diseases. Meanwhile, cardiovascular and heart diseases are considered to be one of the main dangers for both active and passive smokers. According to recent data from the American Association for Health, passive smoking almost every year promotes the development of various cardiovascular pathologies among sixty thousand people. In addition it is non-smokers who breathe in that passive smoke, have twenty-five percent higher risks of coronary heart diseases than ordinary people who have the possibility not to inhale tobacco smoke at all (Harms of Smoking and Health Benefits of Quitting, 2011). As a result of the inhalation of tobacco smoke by passive smoker, the process of generating the so-called red blood cells is being stimulated. Thus, due to this blood of passive smoker becomes much thicker. As a consequence, at times increases the probability of a blood clotting and the development of heart beats. We must not forget that passive smoking is very dangerous for the health of respiratory tract. And if a person suffers from asthma, it is important to try to avoid the slightest form of passive smoking. After all, as it is known, namely passive smoke can lead to allergic reactions, including the formation of asthma. Children exposed to secondhand smoke can develop asthma even with no previous symptoms exhibited. In addition, even passive smoking irritates trachea and lungs, causing changes of the voice. The rick of lower respiratory tract infections increases when children under age of 6 are exposed to second hand smoke. It should be noted that in fact both passive and tobacco smoke have effect on everything somehow related to our breathing. Moreover, it may cause the development of pneumonia or sinusitis, as well as persistent cough and runny nose banal. And all that is because exposure of passive smoke inhalation can actively irritate our throat. In addition, passive smoking can affect even the diseases of the ear. For instance, the Eustachian tube, which connects the physiologically human nose with his middle ear, is subjected to the same incredibly strong negative impact of tobacco smoke. Finally, asthma attacks can be triggered when asthma patients are exposed to secondhand smoke. The chemicals contained in the smoke affect the bronchioles and lung tissue and deposit on the mucous membrane covering the respiratory tract, which cause strong local irritation. Thickened mucous membrane increases the resistance of the airway of the lungs to the air flow and makes breathing difficult (Effects of Smoking on Your Health, n.d.). Therefore smoking is unhealthy for the smoker and should be banned in public. It will give millions of people the opportunity to live longer and healthier life without having to look for fresh air in public. And the ban to smoke in public will give one more reason for smokers to give up this habit, particularly because quitting is not as difficult as it seems to be: there are lots of techniques aimed to do that with help and support of your dearest people. Thus, everybody will gain something: our nation will get more healthy citizens who would be able to work on making our future better and your friends and reletives will get an opportunity to breathe free.
