Writing a Proposal – Cigarettes are bad Introduction Cigarettes have killed more people than any other thing. This is absolutely horrific to visualize in the time and age of today where people know of the different fatal elements which could destroy their lives. Having said that cigarettes are consumed more and more with each passing day all over the world. There is just no stopping this harsh fact that people smoke for the pleasure that is derived out of these cigarettes. There is a problem that smoking cigarettes kills people but then again the smokers do not realize the mistakes that they are committing towards their own selves. All they want to do is to enjoy that one last cigarette before they decide to do something else. It is a totally different ideology that this ‘last’ cigarette in essence never arrives. They are once again smoking another one to relieve themselves of the mental strains and pressures, which they believe are lessened drastically by smoking one more cigarette (Griffin & Baltaqi, 2001). There must be something done sooner rather than later to stop the sale of cigarettes because these kill people. No bullet or no gun is that harmful when one compares the same with cigarettes. People need to realize this fact and move in line with the banning of cigarettes in entirety. The smokers die because of these cigarettes and hence it is about time strict policies are drafted, which prohibits the sale of cigarettes once and for all. Problem The problem with cigarettes is that it kills people. This is known to people yet they indulge in smoking habits for the mere pleasure which they derive out of this exercise. They think it makes them look cool and trendy, no matter how rude it looks to the normal man. It creates problems for the passive smokers who do not want to be a part of this cigarette smoking activity yet somehow or the other becomes prey to inhaling smoke. This harms their health as well. Cigarette smoking is addictive since it asks of people to indulge within smoking domains without even taking into consideration how fatal it could be for the person as well as the people surrounding him. The problem does not finish here. The manner in which this person talks with others as well as the way in which he performs certain actions and manifests behaviors are all under the influence of nicotine which is filled within these cigarettes. According to (Bridge and Beltramini, 2001), advertising of tobacco towards youth is a disruptive influence since tobacco is a killer and having this tobacco within one’s body can have serious consequences towards the health of the smoker. The problem is that the smoker is quote unwary of the harmful effects of smoking cigarettes. All he is focused upon is to have one more cigarette which will relieve the burden off his shoulders and make him feel light-hearted and easy-going. This seldom happens and the smoker becomes filled with smoke which is there within these fatal cigarettes. The family lives of the smokers are compromised upon since they feel neglected and left out of the usual attention spans of the smokers. The corporations are playing a very dirty game with the lives of people all around the globe. Massive expenses are incurred by people each year to buy cigarette packs for their soothing pleasure. Smoking cigarettes is indeed a bane and this problem keeps on lingering with each passing day. The smokers of these cigarettes should be asked to have licenses so that the young smokers could be kept away from the smoking menace. There would be proper check and balance measures if licenses are put into practice. Hunting, car racing and other fatal activities require licenses and since smoking cigarettes is dangerous without any shadow of a doubt, it would be pretty fitting to have licenses for the smokers. This will ask of them to cut down on their intake of cigarettes as well as completely giving up smoking once and for all. Having licenses in place seems to be the most pertinent solution to this anomaly which has played havoc with the lives of the people on a daily basis. Those people who do not have licenses would not opt to smoke cigarettes and thus it would largely affect the society as a whole in a very positive way (Mcgrady, Iobst & Nabors, 2007). Also the corporations which are manufacturing cigarettes would invest in other areas and hence would divert their attention from the quarters of producing cigarettes as it would have fewer takers and more losses. These corporations would show displeasure at having licenses in the beginning but with the passage of time they would understand that no one should be allowed to run riot with the lives of common man and woman on the street. The stores which sell these cigarettes would close down and the owners would start thinking of new businesses. It will eventually help the cause of cutting down on smoking cigarettes at the end. Benefits of Solution The solution presented is indeed the best since it asks of the people to get licenses which will in turn mean that they would cut down on their intake of cigarettes in a drastic fashion. If the law is made strict and not everyone is allowed to have license in order to smoke cigarettes, one would see that this business would be at a loss and the corporations which are making billions out of selling cigarettes to the end consumers, would start pulling out from such business realms quickly. In the broader picture, it will save millions of lives and speaking from a truly long term perspective, billions of lives will actually be saved in the coming times (Logue & Hanson, 1998). The environment would be a smoke-free one and there would be fewer issues with the intake of cigarettes and smoke in general. It will ask people to spend their money judiciously as well. They will concentrate these spending elsewhere, perhaps in children’s tuition fees, health needs and so on. Also the benefits will comprise of the fact that smokers would not think of getting on to smoking habits in the future and they would generally desist from plunging within such dangerous domains that essentially puts everyone’s lives at risk. Conclusion In the end, it would be justifiable to suggest that smoking cigarettes is harmful for the lives of 7 billion people on planet earth. It creates animosity amongst them on a deeper level. Smoking does have its due share of consequences on the health domains and there is absolutely no denying this very fact. Killing people in such a huge manner is certainly unacceptable and uncalled for. Perhaps the time has come for the authorities at the helm of affairs to enact policies which would ask of these cigarette manufacturers to cease their working processes and invest elsewhere. The children of today essentially do not need smoke to pollute their lives. Those who have already quit smoking cigarettes have in essence done something worthwhile for the rest of the inmates on planet earth. There is still much one can do within these smoking discussions. A very logical realization of the harmful effects of smoking cigarettes towards the smokers is very important. The different NGOs and anti-smoking movements must design such campaigns which are directed to keep the smokers away from smoking fatal cigarettes. Also governmental policies must be made tougher to ask these large corporations to invest elsewhere. The suggestion of having licenses for smoking cigarettes is also very quintessential towards building a general consensus that smoking kills at the end of the day.
