Extract of sample "Health Studies and Social Care Graduate Course"

My current research on stem cells and organ donation, which shall form part of my final examination, has aroused my passion to study the social, ethical, and legal issues related to such medical interventions. In fact, I am fully aware that a responsible public health administrator must possess the knowledge of implications that these issues have while dealing with difficult cases involving controversial medical investigations and research.

Work experience

I am working with National Health Service, where I deal with tasks related to different health settings, which require excellent decision-making capabilities. Accordingly, I am gaining hands-on practical experience required to handle difficult and controversial health care situations.

Reason to join this course program

I would like to gain exhaustive knowledge of different modules related to ethical, social, and legal issues in health care settings. Accordingly, I expect to learn about the theoretical fundamentals of ethics and law that govern the health care settings. In addition, I wish to understand the real implications of legal and moral theories for an individual and society, which would include the theories of justice as well. In addition, the course would enlighten me on the theories that explain alternatives to principles that govern feminist ethics and virtual ethics.

As the occurrence of legal issues is the most common outcome in a health care setting that involves the patients and health care staff, the course provides details on related central issues in the law governing health care. Accordingly, I hope to gain detailed knowledge on law and legal methods, the importance of consent, informed as well as voluntary, and competence issues related to the concerned health care staff. In addition, the course would provide me legal requirements regarding the rights of the patients for accessing the healthcare records and confidentiality of the same. Clinical negligence is one of the raging controversial issues in the healthcare settings, the course would provide sufficient details on this issue.

As I am curious to understand the significance of experience and leadership while dealing with ethical and legal issues in healthcare, I look forward to gaining this insight during the desired course study.

In yet another module, I look forward to understanding the professional, legal, and ethical issues related to human life and its beginning. These include the legal status of fetus and embryo and the law regarding termination of pregnancy. In addition, I look forward to knowing about the legal and ethical issues regarding reproduction through surrogacy and other reproductive technologies.

As I am passionate to analyze the implications of the above issues, I request you to consider my application for admission to this study program.
