Charisma in Leadership - Essay Example

Closely related to their eloquence is the ability of charismatic leaders to identify the needs of their followers and attend to them. Charisma makes leaders have the capacity to win the trust of their followers and therefore impacts on their capacity to influence them through what the leader says. Many politicians evidently are charismatic, the reason they have many followers. There are a lot of controversial views about charisma. While some people believe that charisma is an inborn trait, others believe that it is a trait that people can learn.

Whatever the case, charisma is important for those who want to be successful leaders. In spiritual circles, charisma is believed to be God-given. In this respect, charisma is not inborn and is not a trait to be learned but rather is a gift that comes from the Supreme Being (God). Whether viewed from the religious or secular perspective, what stands out is that charismatic people are set apart from ordinary people in that they command a lot of respect and/or authority.
