Cultural diversity pertains to a society where people with different cultural systems co-exist (Pedersen & Connerley, 2005). Religion is one of the many factors that provide diversity to a society. One of its aspects is its sacred spaces (Barnett, 2012). This paper compares and contrasts the sacred spaces of Buddhism, Islam, and Judaism, specifically the Ka’ba in Mecca, the Wailing Wall of Judaism, and the Bodhi Tree of Buddhism.

Jesus sought to reform the injustices he saw in the conflicts arising out of clashes between different groups during his time. In Luther’s time, he sought to reform conflicts arising out of different concepts of Christian religious and political concepts, emphasizing the Pope’s role in the construction of Church doctrine.

Selecting Islam as an “unfamiliar” religion for this field study reflects my curiosity stemming from the widely accepted image of Islam and Muslims in media today. During this field research, I came across a few Muslim men and women both online and offline. I tried to discuss my concerns and ideas about Islam and asked for explanations.
