Christian Muslim Relation The opening Surah depicts the essence of the entire Quran since it has the major themes and principles. Surah Fatiha-tal-kitab has the following texts that open the chapter, In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, The Especially Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of All the Worlds; The Most Merciful, The Especially Merciful. Allah deserves all praise since he is Most Merciful and he is the reason I exist. By reciting this Surah during salah I have realized the power of this du’a. Surah Al Fatihah has opened my mind and heart may Allah keep my intentions pure and keep me steadfast. My prayers have really improved after I gained an understanding of the Surah that declares Tawheed, Du’a, and the practical aspect of the Muslim conduct. The entire Surah stresses the importance of making supplication for all. When I read the Surah I learn that Allah has anger towards those that reject the truth since they go astray due to their ignorance. I believe the knowledge of the tafsir will enable one to know the consequences for sins while Muslim faithful can ask to guide them to a straight path. The words You alone we worship and from you alone we seek help give me comfort during salah and the rest of the day since Allah helps me out in my difficult situations. I have learned that Allah has chosen this Surah as the second pillar of Islam since it opens some of the greatest miracles. The Surah summarizes the purpose of life as I worship Allah since he is always merciful. May Allah always keep my feet on Siraat al-Mustaqeem, Inshallah. Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow) Ayah 76 of the Surah state that, “And when Jews met the Muslims they assert, we believe”, but they met in privacy they cite, “Shall we tell the Muslims what Allah has revealed to us Jews concerning the characteristics and the description of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), Muslims argue concerning the writing of the Torah before the Lord. Have the Jews got no understanding? This ayah Allah informs us concerning the children of Israel, the nation where Jews and Christians originated. Allah charged this nation with the duty of carrying his message to humanity. Allah did this and showed the nation many signs and miracles to convince them that he is a rational person while they became unreceptive to the truth and hardened their hearts. The nation failed to accept the message from Allah since the Message was the Truth and they did not submit to it. The nation had immense love of the worldly pleasures and love of themselves as they rejected the Message since they hardened their hearts. Allah informs us of our relationship with those people in the statement, “Do you have any hope that they will believe in you when a group of them that heard the voice of Allah and failed to understand it?” Surah Al Baqarah is a long chapter of the Quran in the Medinian sura that has 286 verses. The Surah depicts the sacrifice of a cow by the Israelites as an order from Allah. The theme of the sura is to guide the pagans and the Jews from Medina to prescribe to Islam and those that refuse will suffer the fate of God. A great part of the Al-Baqarah was revealed when the prophet was in Al-Madinah since it concerns with the Jews acquainting with the creed of Revelation, Prophet Hood, and Allah. The Quarish failed to embrace Islam that was revealed by Allah to Musa. They adopted many un-Islamic customs and creeds for many years since there was no sanction in the Torah. The Mushrik Quraish distorted the Word of God as they relied on lifeless rituals. The Hoy Prophet travelled to Al-Madinah and called on the Jews to the true religion. The Surah highlights the principles and the regulation that are crucial to ensure solidarity in the entire community. The Surah has the theme of Divine Guidance in all the tales such as Allah restoring life and the prayer of forgiveness. Ayah 38 state that, “Get down from Paradise and accept Guidance from me, whoever will follow My Guidance shall have no fear or grief.” The Surah addresses mainly to the Jews and cites the historic events and traditions that display the acceptance of Guidance. Divine Guidance was revealed to the Holy Prophet and he was the first to accept it after being revealed to Prophet Musa. Ayah 6 of the Surah cite that, “Verily those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether Muhammad warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.” Consequently, the chapter condemns the consumption of alcohol and the practice of gambling. Ayah 2 says that Al-Muttaqun should abstain from evil deeds and sins since Allah ordains the good deeds. Allah 30 -39 mentions the story of Adam’s appointment on earth. Ayah 31 state that And He (Allah) taught Adam all the names of everything and he showed them to the angels and said, tell me the names of these if you are truthful. All the angels lay prostrate before Adam apart from Iblis because he was proud and disobedient to Allah. Later on Adam fell to Iblis temptations and repented to Allah so that his offspring could acceptance the Guidance of Allah. The story highlight that the Guidance of Islam is was given to Adam and the rest of the humanity. Surat An-Nisā 157 claim that the Muslim belief is that Christ Jesus was never killed or crucified. The Christians hold a centrality view to this one. One Surah interpretation cites that it is Allah who killed them to test the believers’ faith since Allah is all hearing and knowing (Surat Al-Anfai:17). Some Muslim scholars do not agree on this issue some say that Allah killed Jesus for 3 days, revived him, and raised to him while some say that Allah made him to sleep, replaced him with a resemblance, and raised him after that. The Christians believe that Jesus died and resurrected. In this surah-al-maidah-ayah-116, Allah informs of a conversation he will have on judgment day with Jesus in the presence of those that worshipped him and Mary his mother as god. Allah will ask Jesus whether he instructed people to worship him. It is certain the day happened in the wording “remember this day.” Allah is angry and upset with the followers and does not even talk to them. God bestow all glory since he is far from fault and deficiency. Jesus glorifies Allah that has no resemblance to the creation. No thing escapes the knowledge of God, Allah knows everybody inside out. Allah is the knower of the unseen since he knows the heavens that people are yet to see. Jesus believes in the Oneness of Allah and the worshippers should follow his pattern. People that believe in the divinity of Jesus will suffer humiliation on the Day of Judgment. Allah is Al-Ahad and does not have a partner. People should mind what they hold in their hearts and should avoid making careless statements. Worship Allah while avoiding any distractions. In conclusion, since the fourteenth centuries Muslims and Christians have had periods of great conflicts. Supreme issues between the two religions include the purpose of human existence and the ultimate destiny. Each religion has a figurehead to assert God’s messenger for all humanity Christian claim that Jesus is the savior of humanity while Muslim claim that Prophet Muhammad is universal for all the nations. Each of the religion has its own achievement the Christians mission is to spread the gospel to the ends of the world while Muslims is to establish Ummah that covers the entire globe. Each religion has its own conviction to overcome the philosophies, powers, and religion that challenge human allegiance. Works Cited Murad, Khurram, and Kenya Nairobi.
