Moral Conversion Bernard Lonergan explains that moral conversion means moving from a self satisfaction criteria to values that are ofinterest to groups. He says that moral conversion is not moral perfection but the act of withdrawing from a state of self-enclosure. From his explanation, it can be said that moral conversion is among the various forms of conversion related to religious and intellectual conversion. According to his description, this is the gap between changing values and converting to a better sense of responsibility over the world.

Bernard explains that moral conversion has six stages and is based on advancing to higher and higher levels of moral thinking. The first level is the preconvention, where one is a child, and the last is post-conventional involving the adult level. At the Post-conventional level, the adult has the knowledge of the ethical principles that lead and influence the world’s moral behaviour. Religious conversion according to Bernard is the ultimate of conversion. It is the conversion that influences genuine love in a person, and shows total surrender to the demands of the human spirit.

Copeland teaches that during conversion, the believer goes through a complete and immediate change of nature. He explains that at the time of birth, the spirit of God comes over a person, and a holy being related to Jesus is conceived in the body. He says that it is therefore natural that a man should think like Jesus thought. Copeland explains that religious or moral conversion is a gift given by God which builds an interpersonal relationship of love in our hearts. He says that this is a radical change in our minds that leads towards the highest level of its development.

Moral conversion makes life more meaningful and valuable within our hearts.
