Emphasis on the Differences between Genders Introduction It is of importance to understand the difference between the genders in the world of today. The understanding of the differences will enable a psychologist to know the brain difference between the gender, and the difference in sex that exists among the human beings. Furthermore, the emphasis on the difference in gender will enable the psychologist to understand the differences that exist between both the male and female. The understanding of the differences between the genders will be very important for a psychologist when it comes to solving the problems that erupts between men and women. During the counseling and therapy, the psychologist can help the couples appreciate and understand each other. Furthermore, the couples will benefit from understanding the differences that exist between them. The intellectual understanding of the differences is not enough. A therapist or a counselor can help point out the difference as they appear and guide the couples on how to approach their relationship. When the couples are made to understand that the differences that exist between them are not intentional, will have a big difference in their relationship. In a relationship, when men understand and appreciate a trait that is considered feminine, then, they are able to deeply understand themselves. On the other hand, when women seek to understand what is masculine in men they come to understand and appreciate them. The Difference In Sex The recent psychological investigation research on the biological sex difference has provided the cognitive and behavioral differences between women and men. The research carried out has employed cognition experimental test which takes various forms. When it comes to the difference in sex, intelligence is partly due to biological and socialization factor (Nisbett, Aronson, Blair, Dickens, Flynn, Halpern, & Turkheimer, 2012).The test focused on areas such as spatial reasoning, IQ, emotion, aggression, and brain function, and structure. When it comes to the tests on the IQ of both the men and women, differences were identified on the verbal and the ability on mathematics. The general factor, g, which is extracted from a matrix of correlation of the mental ability test battery, is common to all ability in mental. However, the result shows that there is a negligible difference in sex in "g" (Colom, Juan-Espinosa, Abad, & Garcı́a, 2000). Because environmental and social factors affect brain behavior and activity, it makes it hard to assess if the differences are innate or not. Most studies on the gender difference have explored the possibility of the influence of social and how both the sexes perform on behavioral and cognitive test. The stereotypes of the difference between women and men have been shown to affect the behavior of a person. the result also identified that there is a big differs in men and women performance for occupations that were realistic. These occupations included carpentry and mechanic. The result found out that men tend to be thing-oriented while women are people-oriented (Lippa, 2005). In both incidence and prevalence, many types of mental behaviors and illnesses problem show gender differences. Of the diagnosed eighty disorders in the adulthood, thirty-five of the disorders were fund to be common in men to women. On women, thirty-one of the disorders were found to be common to them as compared to men. Finally fourteen of the diagnosed disorders were found to be common to both men and women (Hartung, & Widiger, 1998). The observation on the differences between both women and men jealousy was also carried out. It was found that the jealousy in men is mostly caused by sexual infidelity. However, jealousy experienced in women is always as a result of emotional infidelity. Sixty-two to eighty-six percent of the women interviewed confirmed that they will be more disturbed by emotional infidelity. On the other hand, forty-seven percent to sixty percent of the men interviewed conferment they would be disturbed by sexual infidelity (Pietrzak, Laird, Stevens & Thompson, 2002). The gender similarity hypothesis was introduced in the year 2005. The hypothesis suggested that, the female and male are same on most physiological variables. The research carried out focused majorly on cognitive variables. These cognitive variables included comprehension reading and mathematics, communication and personality and social, motor behavior and psychological well-being. Using the 46 meta- analysis result review, it was found that seventy-six percent of the result were of the differences in gender very negligible. Some of the aspects which showed the largest difference in gender included throwing distance and sexuality aspects. It is time for the effects of overinflated claims on the issue of gender difference to be considered. This is because of the believes that they cause harm in different ways. These may include the opportunity of women in the workplace, self- esteem problems of the adolescents, and couple communication, and conflicts (Eagly, 2009). Both the male advantage of physical power and the female advantage of fluency mainly fade after they attain the age of twenty-five years. This was compared with other primates showing changes in sex differences in strength and sociability. Both women and men have different timings of verbal and physical system maturity. During the first two years of growth, it is rear for working to occur simultaneously. This is an indication that the two abilities fight for the same set neural connections or one neural type organization prevents the other. This coincides with the boys higher mobility accompanied by their low development of speech during their childhood when compared to girls. These appear as sex different of women and men in the early age which then fades off at the adulthood. The middle age- middle sex phenomenon explains why several experimental studies and meta-analytic reports on dominance and verbal ability using the reported sex difference adult participants. The Brain Difference Between The Genders When determining the brain difference between the genders, scientists mainly study four main areas in the female and male brain. These four areas include the processing, structure, chemistry and activity. PROCESS The difference between the male and female brain is that the male brain utilizes more gray matter seven times while female brain utilizes ten times more white matter. The gray matter means that, the part of the brain of gray matter area is localized. In the brain, there are action and information processing center in specific areas. This can transform to a type of tunnel vision when they are undertaking something. Once men are totally involved in a task or activity, they may not show allot of sensitivity to the surrounding or people around them. However, the white matter in the brain of the female is a networking that connects the gray matter of the brain and other and other centers of processing to each other. This difference in the brain processing is the reason female tends to be quick in transition between tasks than boys. The difference in the matter of gray and white explains why female are good malti- taskers while men perform well in projects that need high tasks-focus (Gregory L. Jaunt, 2014). CHEMISTRY Both the female and male brain process neurochemicals that mare same. However, the processing is of difference degrees and through specific gender-brain body connection. Serotonin is some of the main neurochemicals which help us sit still; one of the chemical is testosterone, it is aggression and sex chemical. The other chemical is estrogen which is a reproductive and growth chemical for female and finally oxytocin which is a chemical for a bonding relationship. Because of the differences in processing these chemicals between the female and male, male are found it easy to sit still as compared to women. The female seems to be more aggressive and impulsive. In addition, less of oxytocin is processed by the male as compared to the female (Gregory L. Jaunt, 2014). STRUCTURAL DIFFERENCES Male and women have a number of structural elements in their brain that are different. Structure refers to the brain actual parts and how they are built including their mass and size. The female brain often has a large hippocampus as compared with the male. Furthermore, female brain always has a neural connection of high density in the hippocampus. Because of this, female tend to absorb more emotive and sensorial information as compared to males. By referring to the word sensorial, this means women utilize all the five senses as compared to men. The observation of the girls, women, men and boy, it was found that girls and women tend to understand what is going around them. Female also finds it easy to retain what they have learned easily as compared to men (Gregory L. Jaunt, 2014). Conclusion Psychologists need to understand the difference between genders if they need to provide quality services to the people or couples they are counseling. For effective counseling, the psychologist needs to make the couples understand the differences that exist between them and make them appreciate them. The couples also need to understand that the difference that exists between them is not their mistakes. When the couples have a good understanding of the difference that exists between them, they will have a good relationship. Bibliography COLOM, R., JUAN-ESPINOSA, M., ABAD, F., & GARCÍA, L. F. (2000). Leadership of the Sexes

A “gender-balanced leadership” recognizes the diversity in the corporate setting and the differences in the way males and females process information, react to situation, find remedies to problems, and relate to other people (4).... Using PET scan (monitors activity of neurons), MRI scan (shows flow of blood), and SPECT scan (tracks brain activity) on brain areas, it was revealed that with more activity, more blood flows in the “spatial-mechanical centers” on the right side of the male brain while for the female, blood flows more on the “verbal-emotive centers in both sides” (men tend to move around during meetings while women discuss matters); there is more gray matter on men (making them process singly and locally) while women have more of the white matter (they “process more globally” and evaluate the world regularly); the larger hippocampus in female brain makes them recall “more physical and situational details;” larger amygdala in females tends to resolve conflict by upward direction toward the verbal areas in the brain while for males, the direction is downward that tends to produce physical manifestation; and hormone secretion affects the thinking process of both genders differently (more testosterone and vasopressin in males makes them territorial and aggressive while more serotonin and oxytocin influence females towards calmness and bonding) (Gurian and Annis 3)....
