The person reflection on his professional career I am a determined student who always wants a positive results in my undertakings. I recall back in early education years when I could finish my assigned task in time. I also remember how I liked being a group leader who viewed every other member of the group as a leader and had something unique to offer to the group. Indeed, I always helped the group find solutions to our problems such as wrangles in the group or failure by members of the group to agree on a common ground. I always rescued them through making them realize that each one’s viewpoint was a solution but we never incorporate all in our assignment. My colleagues always tagged me a leader, problem solver and decision maker and I could wonder why such skills and abilities were always used to describe me. I also remember when I landed my first job and was directly made the leader of a career center in the organization. New employees had to pass through me before finally placed in their reactive jobs. In addition, the top management always referred me as a problem solver and a decision maker as the entire new employee that I assisted always performed as required in their tasks. Moreover, I recall how it reached a time when the top management realized that new employees who got my services outperformed the old ones. The situation worsened until a policy was reached that all employees including some of the top managers who had served for years had to arrange for sessions with me. It is then that I realized my strengths to be a leader, problem solver and effective decision maker. Strengths The student has identified his strength as a good leader, higher ability to solve problems as well as a good decision maker. The student has unquestionable ability to solve the problem. He is certain that given chance, he can help the organization in solving a number of existing and future problems. For example in case employee feel demotivated and hence unwilling to work leading to reduce employee productivity. He is certain that he can lead from front in solving such a problem by bringing together both the management and the workforce and held revamp the declined productivity. In addition, the student is equipped by adequate leadership style. He believes in a shared leadership style. He says the shared leadership strategy is beneficial to the organization as creates a harmonious teamwork and thus increased productivity. In addition, the shared leadership outlines the limits of each worker therefore outlining an effective chain of command thus eliminating the possibility of leaders being insensitive about their employee. In addition the student possesses sufficient decision making skills. He is therefore sure that he can impact the organization through his outstanding skills in decision making. In addition, the student will share these skills in decision making so that only rational decisions are made in the organization with respect to making policies that drives the success of the organization. Overall, the three strengths identified by the student are interrelated and linked to each and hence can be condensed to effective leadership and decision making. With respect to leadership, the student skills in leadership based on a shared leadership approach would mean a lot to the organization. In shared leadership, each employee feel motivated and part of the organization as each individual input in the organization is appreciated and documented. In appreciating such inputs, employees’ performance rises as each employee provide his best in the organization. Such is a healthy competition since the worker productivity that culminates into increased firm productivity is the ultimate realization. Therefore, the student has reach proficiency in leadership and there is a need to help him develop and update his CV and cover letters that will automatically land him an internship. In addition, the introduction of shared leadership will ensure that leadership is distributed across the organizational units eliminating the trespass by leaders in to other people’s jurisdiction without following the due process. On the other hand, the student abilities can be related closely to effective decision making. Firm are always faced by the need to make tough decision that have great impacts on the success or failure of these organizations. Therefore, organizations fully rests on the existence of key personnel who sieve the through a range of alternative set of decisions available before settling one most effective one. Therefore, both problem solving and decision making skills possessed by this student will be beneficial to the organization. Therefore, there is a need to help the student to fully communicate his strengths to his potential employer in quality cover letter and resume. The student should therefore have a resume that precisely integrate these strengths to catch the eyes of the Human Resource Management to land him an internship and further develop his career from the gained experience. Therefore, the leadership and decision making skills noted in the student should form the key factors to consider in developing his resume and cover letter. Describe his/her projected career path The student is proficient in leadership and decision making driven by his massive strengths such well-equipped shared leadership skills, problem solving ability as well as an effective decision maker. In this case, the student is worth being a career coach in the future as he can help many people based on his skills endowment. For instance, many applicants lack the skills in solving problems and would always difficulty outsourcing experts that draw a lot of money from these organizations. Therefore, making the student a career coach will help these applicants develop skills needed to solve such problems while in the organization and thus a reduction of such costs that could otherwise have been spent in outsourcing problem solving experts. Moreover, the student has also shown massive skills in decision making process. Policies that run the daily operation of firms are based on their effectiveness to make decisions. Therefore, when this student is developed to become an effective career coach, he would be of great significant to these skill-hungry cohorts of policy makers. Therefore, the student will find his career path enjoyable as he would only be advancing his areas of interest. Finally, the student also possesses potential shared leadership skills. Many organization have failed over the years due to inappropriateness in leadership skills. Such managers position themselves as managers rather than as a resource to the organization, therefore, their inputs are not used effectively to benefit the organization. They would destroy the chain of command and make their own decision leaving out significance views of other employees. Therefore, before such leaders mess up the organization, they should benefit from the skilled possessed by this student. Making him a career coach will eliminate the possibility of having leaders who feel they know all and are always right. Motivation is key feature that leaders must possess and therefore, shared leadership style is in itself a motivating factor as one is assigned tasks and feels part of the results. Plan for a leadership Approach The student has identified a shared leadership style as his chief skills in leadership. Therefore, the student is worth pursuing this type of leadership style where he can harmoniously develop a teamwork that leads to increased productivity in the firm. In addition, the student should be helped in harnessing this strength in leadership since a shared leadership appreciates the principle of triangulation where every employee in the firm contributes towards the pursuant of goals, objectives and mission of the firm. In addition, if the student is given the best opportunity to pursue this type of leadership, he can develop a culture where change management is an easy task and will ensure that his organization remains current to trends and changes in leadership or operational process. A shared leadership still is also significant as a leader views himself as a resource and never as a manger. Therefore, the resource is used to meet the demand and goals of the organization culminating into increased firm productivity without resistance to change. Success-oriented firms must have effective and strategic leaders who can help organization keep pace with other competitors. Change management is a valuable concept that drives the success of organizations. However, change resistance is a teething problem that if not properly eliminated through a shared leadership, culminates to great competitive disadvantages amongst many organization. Therefore, the shared leadership approach identified by the student must be the type of leadership approach he is allowed to harbor. Such leadership styles attract less or no resistance as each employee input is incorporated in the management to realize the outcomes. Therefore, no rational employee would resist his own efforts and energy spent in realizing a particular outcome. Thus, the policies of the organization are known by the employees in advance as they contribute to such decisions and thus warmly welcome them once documented for effective implementation. Such an organization will always have a competitive advantage over the competitors. Finally, the student must be given a conducive environment to practice his shared leadership approach in developing his career. Read More
