Learning Team Presentation Essay [Pick the Working alone and working with a team can be entirely different experiences for a person; they can be positive or negative. In some ways, teams and individual presentations are similar. A team contains of two or more people who work with each other to achieve the same goal (Rosenhauer, 2009). Team work is not only about working with each other; it’s about how to work well with each other. To create effective climate, instructor should take some steps. In the beginning, the team will face some difficulties, but after some time, and with some efforts, team will work as one. For an effective team, team members have to know each other. Leader: First of all, every team should have one leader to guide the team properly and to deliver and assign tasks to them and to make every member work properly. As a leader, you should: create healthy and friendly climate and attitude towards other members. Try to structure cooperative behaviour between the members. Gain members’ trust. Resolve conflicts intelligently. Members: Members should be co-operative. They should listen to their leader and be prepared to work with the team every time. Members should be; Responsible for their tasks. Open to new ideas. Clear and well awareof their capabilities. Able to goals and work together for their achievement. Listen to others too. Ask questions if they have any. Early stage: Before starting, ask members to share their previous experiences of team work. They would be positive and negative. Then ask them to translate those experiences into a set of ground rules. The idea of ground rules is very effective as it has worked for many teams previously. Study your team members’ behaviours and tell them to control on their aniexty as researches have shown that the members can feel frustrated and less focused during performing stage. It can be overcomed by encouraging them positively. Communication and healthy group climate: Communication is the second step. The team members should get to know each other by communication to give effective results. Communicate with members in a way in which they are able to share their thoughts and feelings. It can be very destructive if the team members won’t speak up and clear their minds. For a healthy group climate, let them speak of their minds. Assign tasks to the members so they get to know each other. Design different activities and games for them so they could gain each other’s trust and eventually work properly. Encourage members to ask questions and listen to each other. Don’t insist members; just ask them to try. Give positive remarks. Trust: Develop trust between the members so they can easily share their thoughts to each other by assigning different tasks to them in which they can work as a whole. Meetings: Manage meetings properly and discuss everything with other members. Listen to them too. Encourage the members by asking and sharing everything about the meeting. Tell them the purpose of the meeting, before the meeting starts, so they will know what will be discussed.During the meeting give the members opportunity to socialize with each other. Members should be active and engaged. They should know how to perform tasks and manage everything regarding meeting. Conflicts: One can face conflicts between the members. Face them calmly. Ask them to talk about the matter and solve it intelligently. These can be the reasons to a dispute or conflict: • Attacking on group members personally rather than issue. • relying on assumptions. • Side conversations. • Dominating behavior Not fulfilling responsibility. Clear goals: Your team should know what aim they want to achieve and how. Best you can do for this , is that make a list of three essential goals you and team wants to achieve. Ask members too. Write them on a paper and then focus on them. Team members should work for the same goal instead of their own personal ones. Prepare well: The team should prepare well. Choose the best person by assigning him/her a topic of his interest and capability rather than position. Assign them formal and informal roles.Figure out who is best at writing, who is good at creating slides, who can speak well and who observes well. Carefully analyse your audience too. Make the presentation consistent. And practice more and more, and with the entire team. Make extra copies of the slides Presentation time! When its time, you and your team members should come early. Decide where each person will stand. Use a remote advancer for slides to look professional. Introduce the topic to audience, even if they know it. During the presentaion, don’t chat with other members as you are being observed. Decide what the members do when he is not presenting before the presentation. When its time to end up the presentation, give a brief summary and end on a positive note. Negative ones could be harmful to achieve the goal. Your presentation can go well or failed when (class feedback): Went Well Knowledgeable & interesting topic chosen Group activity was a good indication of what we are learning in this class Organized and well planned Visual presentation was nice. Easy to read Nerves did not show Amie acting as facilitator did a really good job in bringing people in and was able to engage the group in conversation. Went very smoothly. Good information Overindulgence not necessarily becoming an addiction was a good way to introduce the topic. Made it more relatable The group activity brought people to self-reflect if they do over indulge in something and the consequences it may have on them. The statistics used were interesting and it was good to give them at the end of the group session. Needs Improvement Amie seemed to have taken over the group, it may be expected in this type of situation, but it did not appear to be evenly distributed. The work was evenly distributed based on each team members strengths Missing ethical considerations in the beginning of the group as ground rules, and there was no slide with this information. Adrian appears to be uncomfortable with the dynamics of the girls. ( Amie and Erin) Adrian has improved from the first time presented with this group. Transitions felt a bit awkward, could be due to nerves. What each of us did? Adrian defined addiction and overindulgence. Erin talked about coping strategies. Amie talked about statistics and did the group exercise doing a mock self-help group with the class asking them to think about an overindulgence they have. Reference: Top of Form Rosenhauer, S.
