Components of Organizational Commitment Components of Organizational Commitment Burt and Stacey certainly appear to have varying levels of commitment to the Walden Sports organization. On the one hand, both of them are staying put with the company even though they appear to not be satisfied. The reason behind this, however, is different between the two. In Burt’s case, he feels that he cannot go anywhere else, so he is stuck where he is at. He expresses no commitment to the company as a whole, just to his job security.

This is dangerous attitude to take, however, as it can lead to a lack of motivation and productivity in the job itself. The fact that he is in charge of the fishing department can also create trouble down the road for Walden Sports, as he does not appear to be committed to the success of the organization any longer. This would be a negative consequence for sure. In Stacey’s case, she would like to look for another job, but she is loyal to Walden Sports because they have paid of her student loans.

Loyalty to a company is certainly something to be admired, and this is a positive for Walden Sports. On the other hand, her work could begin to slip in the future if she is not truly happy in her role. This is something to consider moving forward, as either the company will either need to work to ensure that those loyal to them are truly satisfied with their job, or they will potentially lose quality personnel.
