On 30th June, the union delegates fronted a note to Human resource manager urging them for grant of paid leave for all staff members (2600 industrial workers and 700 administrative employees). The HRM and corporate officials considered the request but concluded it as inappropriate. This response did not go well with WIC unionist and provoked them to convene a number of followers to protest.The violent expulsion abruptly stalled the talks and led to a new wave of work go-slow, blockade, and street demos leading to four-month stand-off (Luchi & Llorente, n.d.).

The episodes unfolding in the conflict under consideration illustrates an intergroup conflict. This is because the misunderstanding crops from among two different sets of teams within an organization – the unionist and the management. Such conflict may have destructive impacts on the inter-group exchanges, especially when both are stained by prior actual or alleged grievances .Such collides are provoked when the contenders carry out their daily duties in the social and political environment as complex as the one existing Kraft food company.

The conflicts’ uncontrolled escalation happened because corporate managers acted in disregard of the political central workings of the unions they were dealing with.Causes of the conflict: The major factor was that company managers and workers ‘leaders concurrently lacked the preparedness and self-discipline desirable to deal with both the foreseeable and the unlikely actions and reactions untied by a labor-management dispute.
