10 's regarding how nursing and psychology are related

Download file to see previous pages... It is true that every patient or person is different from the other. Boyd (2008) is stressing that no two patients can be taken and treated alike. Science proofs that as everyone has had a different experience of things in life they all tend to react differently.
Byrne (1992) is of the opinion that a nurse should know his or her patient so that they could treat them accordingly. A patient that cannot sleep at night could be going through stress, anxiety, depression or a lot of other things. A nurse could only give the right kind of medication if she knows his or her patient. Byrne (1992) explains the importance of nurses in as it could help prevent leading to many problems if they learn psychology. For instance, a patient would not have to stay up all night if the nurse knows what is upsetting him.
Goodman (2012) explains that there are some fields in nursing that requires nurses to study psychology. Mental health, for example, is a field in nursing that requires nurses to know the state of mind of their patients. If they do not attempt to study psychology in such fields then, it could bring a lot of harms to the patient, nurses themselves and other patients around them. Goodman (2012) elucidates the importance of psychology in some specific fields. These fields in nursing cannot go without psychology as it helps to understand the mental issues related with patients.
Jan (2012) is of the opinion that patients with complex mental problems like schizophrenia need the best attention from their nurses. Their behavior is very unpredictable and only efforts to better understand them can help their case and the social issue itself. The author here is right to believe that some mental illness could only be looked after, if not cured, with giving proper attention to the patient. Through observation, there is also a chance to make a breakthrough success sometime in the future.
