In my opinion, students in their second grade of education are mature enough to study about sexuality; hence, the book is of great importance. Since second graders are mature enough, they ought to start learning on different forms of sexuality. The stories about married princes and princesses bring forth the issue of same sex marriages, which according to many, is a taboo.

In my opinion, this is not the case anymore, this is because presently, there are numerous nations around the world that are okay with the issue of same sex marriages, for instance the US. The main reason as to why the state legalized the use of this textbook as a class reader was in a move to create more awareness on the issue of same sex marriages and in doing so will result the abolishment of taboos associated with same sex marriages (Chandler, 2012). By claiming that both the princes and princesses have families, the textbook passes across the information that just like any other marriage, same sex marriages can work pretty fine.

Through the textbook, apart from accepting the fact that same sex marriages are a reality and recognized by the state, it will also change the perception in which people have towards couples in same sex marriages (Chandler, 2012).
