Extract of sample "Sigmund Freud Pessimism on Human Nature"

Sigmund Freud e saw that it was only possible in an error he termed the golden age. This leaves much to be desired because the question that arises is whether that particular state of thought could ever be realized in the practical world we living which contrasts the theoretical perspective (Gillam).

Furthermore, the work of Sigmund Freud is pessimistic entirely because he thoroughly stipulates the suffering of humans and further emphasizing that human beings lack the ability to take control of the obstacles that come against them. Freud claimed that the suffering human beings endure can only be evaded by the aspect of luck. This is crystal clear that he was very pessimistic about human nature (Gillam). On the other hand, humanistic psychology which came to be in 1950s and mostly specializes on behaviorism and psychoanalysis is very optimistic.

This is because it analysis human behavior as being connected to the self-concept and inner feelings. More so, humanistic psychology saw a way forward to what other psychologists saw as limiting factors to behaviorism and psychoanalysis (Gillam). However, humanistic psychology can be analyzed as exclusively optimistic and closer to the truth to a certain limit, but the human behavior is very dynamic and cannot be predicted. Therefore, it can be concluded that humanistic psychology is very optimistic.
